You would be surprised. It influences my choices and probably many people's choices. That's like saying, who goes to a restaurant based on how many stars it has been rated.

Nothing wrong with that. However I quite enjoy reading critical reviews and getting a further sense of whether it's good or not.

I recently watched a TV film called "Olive Kitteridge" which probably wouldn't be on my radar normally. The trailer wasn't that appealing either. But at some awards show a few months ago the lead actress was nominated, and the crowd did seem genuinely behind her. Can't remember if she even won it or not, but it was enough of a clue for me to give the film a go and it was very good indeed.

Secret is getting a reviewer that you relate to or understand. I like Mark Kermode. I understand what he is saying, So I can get a fairly good idea, if I will like a film. Even if he dislikes a movie, depending on what he says, I might know that I will like it, and vice-versa.

If you dont listen to reviews from someone, you are at the disposal of the marketing division of the movie studio, and their adverts, known as trailers.

Oscars what are they - do you mean the syncophantic, luvvie 'love in.' Only of pure entertainment value certainly not for substance. I put on Corrie for that

"Birth of a Nation" is already getting lots of talk ups, for next years Oscars, it might just have the whites complaining about not getting a look in.

It would only be the same as saying that if the stars the restaurant received were only issued by other chefs, and the restaurants able to receive those stars were only chosen by other chefs.

I meant yourself as in themselves. Nice and confusing.

Last movie I saw was The Force Awakens. Before that, it was the new Spongebob movie with my daughter. I can't remember the last time I went before then though. Had to have been 2010 or earlier.

Plus, it didn't win any oscars either because it didn't have all the money thrown at it, or it isn't some pretentious wank-fest dealing with some trendy issue or other.

I can't imagine going to a Spongebob movie; it would be torture. Ive had enough Spongebob to last me several lifetimes, owing to babysitting nephew.
