I will not be watching the Oscars, no, nor reading about them after the event.

Just like all the previous ones.

Never watch it. Can't understand the point of watching a group of people telling each other how great they are.

I'm with the "did anyone actually watch it before" crowd.

Is there some extra reason, beyond it being shit, that we should not be watching it this year?

I have boycotted them for years. In fact I never paid much attention, and don't recall ever watching the award show.
I am considering watching the show this year to protest Jada Pinkett-Smith boycotting it.

The fact that you haven't heard of her tells you all you need to know. I am only aware of one thing (TV series) she appeared in, and as far as I am aware, I have never seen any of her "work".

I have never watched them but I am non plussed by the current debacle. I was under the impression that they were awarded on merit to recognize the best work. Now apparently a certain number should go to people of color, just because they are people of color not based on their work or talent.
