Automation has killed a lot of factory jobs. Where do you ever see ads for lathe operators or tool and die makers any more.? All automated or the jobs gone to China or Korea where if you look at the next tool or piece of hardware you buy at the store it will without a doubt have one of those countries stamped somewhere on it. |

Felons should not have the right to vote while they are serving a sentence. Certain felons should forfeit their right to the vote for their lifetime.
Should she go to prison? No of course not. The point remains though. |

Your right, it is disenfranchising. Legitimate in this case, in my view. No government or society can function as a free-for-all. This isn't the world of the purge. |

Agree to disagree on this one. If you commit an offense against society to the point that society finds it necessary to place you in confinement away from the rest of us, you have lost the right to have your say on that society - at least until you have paid your debt.

Oh I agree - but then I didn’t vote for him and won’t in 2020. |

I realise this is the USA election thread and the discussion is rightly about the current POTUS & Trump's dreadful observations however I need to say something here. Being born Asperger or somewhere on the Autistic spectrum is not a 'medical issue' unless it is at the very top end of autism. There will be people you meet or even post with that will have been diagnosed to be somewhere on the spectrum. It runs in families. I've worked with Asperger children and young adults. I understand them. The idea that an asperger child can be manipulated is rather daft if you knew of these kids. If they do display extreme behaviours then certain types of cognitive therapy can help that. Just as therapy and counselling helps millions of people for all manner of everyday issues. It may help some on here to do a simple google of famous persons diagnosed on the spectrum. You'll find people like them ,or me ,everywhere. Regarding the very top end of the autism spectrum , which this 10 yr old is nowhere near, have a read of Temple Grandin and her life before writing off Greta Thunberg as not having or knowing her own mind or ability to rationalise or think her own thoughts. |

Re: 2020 Election
USA Today just released it's latest presidential polls a snapshot in time so it has to be taken with a grain of salt but according to this survey Trump beats every top Democrat. Mayor Pete, Warren and Bloomberg do the worse losing by a wide margin, while Biden does the best losing by 1% and Sanders losing by 3%. Trump does best with 35 year old and older while 34 and younger support the Democrat candidate. Obviously this is a poll taken before the Democrat party has marshalled it's forces around one nominee but as a country we better not mess this up. To beat a cheating sitting president it is not a easy thing to accomplish but Trump is damaged and it's really important to pick someone that excites the voters. The report out is saying President Obama fears the Democrat party might pick someone who is too liberal to win over the Independent voters. Time will tell but that is my concern as well. To pick Sanders then lose in the general election would be a disaster.

BTW Sanders is the most popular candidate amongst minorities and beats Trump by the largest margin amongst women. But keep going with this desperate attempt that Sanders would be the worst candidate to face Trump, when there is no data to back it up. |
