Why should anyone dig up Melania's past, plaster it on the internet and papers especially when she has a young son ? Trump gives enough ammunition to those against him by his own words, family members should be off limits as Cruz rightly pointed out.

I said a few days ago in this thread that a lot can happen before November. She can be flavour of the week one week...then him the next. Saying that...I'm thinking that perhaps he's going too far now and people won't forget how unpredictable and volatile he can be.

Certainly a few months ago the election was his to lose...and he seems to be doing an excellent job of losing it.

Yes, when one is running for president, stating what you would do when you become president qualifies as a policy position. That's kind of how it works.

I don't disagree that those are good questions to ask Clinton. You should submit them for the presidential debates ... and I mean that seriously. They use voter/audience questions all of the time.

I have believed the same this was his election to lose, and I thought that would definitely happen at the debates- but recently he seems to have done it to himself. quite an amazing election !

As usual you make quite logical comments which I enjoy reading even when I may disagree. This election in particular I am watching closely as I believe Clinton's election will be a turning point in American history, and also I cant imagine how the United States could choose - in my opinion - two such bad candidates.

As far as misrepresenting his words perhaps I should have chosen a better example, but I have heard so many commentaries in the general media that this was a policy that meant the Baltic nations would have to pay up before the US would defend them- the Trump interview I saw he responded to whether the US would stand up to the NATO obligations, and his response would they stand up for their obligations. I didn't take that as saying the US wouldn't stand up to its obligations, but an indication of the strong negotiating tactics he would use. I do not know whether Estonia pays its targeted share of GNP in defense spending, maybe Trump does- but the sad thing is I don't really have much confidence whether he knows.

I concede I should have phrased my comments about Hilary considering build a wall a horrible thing that would risk offending someone- it is my distinct impression since she repeatedly talks about building a bridge instead of a wall, and I have heard her supporters complain about Trump wanting to build a wall. Since I cant imagine why someone would not want to control the border, it just seems that Hilary and her supporters either want an open border, or don't want to offend anyone. I have had friends in Latin America ask me why would here be opposition to building a wall ?

In regards to a candidate's words becoming a policy in Trump's case I do not have the impression many of his comments are policies, just talking points he throws out there. And I think sub consciously may voters think the same, they are just fed up and feel he would in practice find a simple and forceful solution to problems is what attract them. On the other hand , Clinton outlines policy positions such as on trade that I do not think for one moment she intends to keep, just to attract votes. Or this silly "alternative energy super power " concept will generate thousands of jobs, we heard the same from Obama.

Submitting questions ? Interesting though I doubt the general media would accept hard questions to Clinton. My Trump question would be totally unfair " has your doctor indicated that you may have increasing problems in comprehension".

I think it may be the other way round. Choosing a candidate as horrific as Trump was the only way Hillary was going to win the election.
