Is it truly ad hominem? I mean, we freely attack the candidates, but who cares about them? I am struggling to think of a time when a poster has actually been personally attacked, rather than just challenged, albeit in an animated way.

Your posting styles don't match. You favour detail, he tends to favour soundbites. Also pooping, apparently.

EMR in disguise?

Interesting...especially since he was using it to defend failed Trump Vodka.

He had what he said were Trump Steaks...which were not but which came from the company he buys steak from for his hotels. Trump steaks no longer exist.

He had Trump water..actually bottled by a non Trump company that he buys branded water from for his hotels and casinos.

He held up what he called Trump magazine but it was an annual magazine for his golf club...Trump magazine has been gone for years.

He is the ballsiest liar ever...about things easily proven false. So the question becomes how stupid do his supporters really have to be to vote for a man from whom such obvious lies flow. Not one thing the arrogant ass says can be trusted.

The Economist had an investigative piece on Trump's businesses a week or two ago. Their conclusion was that he had done worse than if he'd invested his dad's money in the stockmarket or existing NYC real estate.

He got bent out of shape when his strawmen were challenged. Ad hominem attack?... not so much.

Much worse I suspect. He could have sat on his ass and got in on so many IPO's over the years and nade many billions.

To be fair to Trump, that's probably not a fair comparison, on a lot of levels. The guy made money and I won't begrudge him that.

The clown had to be bailed out by the banks back when was developing some properties...half a billion under water...was put on a monthly allowance by the banks and was allowed to continue the projects because the banks thougt they would recover more of their money with completed projects. That is not success. Most of his money is made by selling his name because many of his businesses go bust. Bankrupting Trump Casino 4 times is not success. Bilking people out of money for failed projects he endorsed and put his name to but had nothing to do with..is not success. Being bailed out by the Chinese is not success. He has been ridiculously lucky to have had his ass saved many times.

But it's OK, he's rich. He can get away with. As for us plebs, get behind on your student loans, who is going to bail us out?

As someone once said....owe the bank 10,000 and they own you. Owe them 10,000,000 and you own them.

I know that you want to hate the guy, but you don't understand the nature of the business.

Real estate is heavily leveraged, so bankruptcy is a tool for dealing with the mortgage debt when the deal goes bad. That isn't comparable to stock investments that don't employ the use of so much debt.

In any case, he bet heavily on Atlantic City, which proved to be a bad idea but made some sense. A lot of money gets made or lost on betting on redevelopment. You should be thankful that risk capital gets deployed in these places, otherwise we would have a lot more blight.

I do no not WANT to hate him. I DO hate him. By the way, more violence against peaceful protesters at his recent rallies...with racial slurs added. He has encouraged this kind of behaviour which is now spreading to the streets. I can only imagine how bad it will get if he is elected. He has handed a license to people to commit violent acts out of racial hatred.

OK, but that has nothing to do with real estate deals and how they work.

Neither do his numerous failures...Trump Air, Vodka, Steaks, Magazine, Mortgage, Travel, University and the list goes on. He is basically a con man to be honest. Also most of the buildings he has his name on...he had nothing to do with the development...just licensed his name.

Taking the kind of risks that make money inevitably means that some deals will fail. Not everything is going to work, nor should all of it be expected to work; success is measured by the totality of the result.

For example, if you look at venture capital, it's probably fair to say that out of every hundred deals, fifty or so are complete losers, another forty are mediocre, and only ten are truly successful. And of the ten, you will get the occasional Google that is an out-of-the-park home run.

But you don't ever get to Google without also getting the other ninety-nine. Dismissing a VC investor for being an idiot because most of the deals are dogs misses the point.
