They are saying a private residence up this way, wonder which it was?

How does the death of a sitting justice affect the upcoming cases to be heard? Does a temporary justice get appointed or do the current sitting justices hear them or does it put everything on hold?

I believe they carry on consideration of the existing cases with the eight remaining justices. I wonder whether Roberts has a casting vote in the event of a tie? After all, there have been cases in the past where a justice has recused themselves for one reason or another.

I just read that a 4-4 decision means the lower court decision stands.

Reports suggest he was there for a quail hunt. Anyone know where Dick Cheney is?

Anyway, it is odd how all these strict constitutionalists are saying the president should not be allowed to appoint someone because it is actually in the constitution (article 2). He should appoint as soon as possible and make sure it is a good pick because they are going to object to any name put forward.

McConnell et al are effectively saying don't even bother nominating. Would be ironic if they lost control of Congress in November.

The leader of the Senate Republicans to begin with. Well, "should not" to be more accurate.
