It was a breath of fresh air when Bill Clinton was elected president. Eight years later along come Bush Jnr. Cheney and Rumsfeld. Eight years on the housing market had collapsed, two wars and hundreds of young men and women coming home in boxes or badly maimed, Wall Street in chaos, the unemployment rate up over 10 percent, banks going under GM, Ford and Chrysler about to declare Chapter 11.

Now we have ISIS, millions seeking asylum in the west and the man and his administration responsible for it sitting in retirement in Texas crying into his bourbon and feeling sorry for himself

Well, I gave some pointers as to why I felt that Hillary should be given some credit for what she has accomplished; you, on the other hand, have merely stated your mantra as though it's fact.

Shame, I found Rand Paul entertaining and he did well cutting the Donald down a few times. Thought he had a very strong debate last time out.

He's refusing to attending the undercard debate. Probably the right decision, seems like it's a graveyard for campaigns. Surprised Kasich made the cut but Paul didn't, though.
I agree, Rand Paul is so much better than some of the frontrunners ... he may be batshit on the gold standard but at least he has functioning cerebral cortex. Fiorina is well past her sell-by date and doesn't ever say anything new.

Oh please! Without Bill she would never, ever have achieved political office.
I wonder if, without Bill, would she have even been interested? Hillary Clinton was well on her way to judicial stardom when she put her career aside to be at Bill's side in Arkansas. It's pretty well known that Bill married up and Hillary married down. He did get better eventually. She advised the House Committee during Watergate while in her 20s and I don't think they were even married when she did that. I've always thought of the Clintons as having created each other, the toxic mix, neither one of them exists without the other, co-narcissm. Sort of like those serial killer couples.

Anywho ... have you seen Bill lately? He looks like shit.

Once read about a conversation she had years ago with someone...I think it was when he was Govenor. The person said she wouldn't be in the Gov mansion without him...she replied...no he wouldn't be there without me. Can't remember exactly...but that was the gist of it.

I hope it's because he's lost a lot of weight and not because he is ill.

That crazy lady that wouldn't issue the marriage licenses to gay couples is in the audience at the State of the Union. I guess they'll let any old fruitcake in there.

Am I the only one watching the State of the Union?

You should see the visual. Lots of yawning and I think I saw somebody texting. Paul Ryan is sitting where John Boehner used to sit. I think Ryan is chewing gum.

Thought it was a good speech, and now comes the expected Republican bullshit response to it.

It was an engaging speech. The first SoTU I've watched live. Obama is a consistently high performing orator. Not the best, but up there.

He introduced some interesting themes which we know Congress will promptly do f**k all with, and took a couple of swipes at the GOP.

Surprised to see him signing autographs on scrappy bits of paper for other members of Congress at the end. That was weird.

The speech had some good parts and Obama is so talented as a speaker. His speeches, at this point for me, are a laundry list of my own positions. There are a few things I haven't liked in his policies but mostly I'm more aligned with him than with any POTUS before. But I don't like it when he brags about killing Bin Laden --- very crass.
