I think Sanders shares many similarities with FDR, who America elected four times, so we'll see how this one plays out. |

I think "America would never elect a socialist" is only half the argument. The other half of the argument being that these early polls (especially the national ones) are not really giving the true picture of who is electable. Analysts then fall back on intangibles such as endorsements in which Bernie lags far behind.

Love all the Hillary hate from certain individuals on here... it makes me realize I'm correct in liking her.
New Hampshire's proximity to Vermont is the significant factor, not that it is white. There's plenty on the other side I don't like either...but she is particularly obnoxious. |

It's just the "America would never elect a Socialist" trope. Just like America would never elect a Catholic, or America would never elect a Kenyan Communist Muslim - err I mean America would never elect a black man.

Exactly...and let's face it had her husband not been Bill Clinton...she wouldn't even have been a senator.

Re: 2016 Election
It would be interesting to see Trump vs. Sanders in the general election. IMO, both are for all intents and purposes, "unelectable" (at least by American standards). One too arrogant and dogmatic, the other far too liberal. Both with near-zero experience in actual politics, particularly international politics, where I suspect neither would command any respect at all.

Trump, on the other hand, well I flushed something more fit to govern the US than him down the bog this morning. |

I hadn't noticed the New Year's tightening in the polls in IA so that's a fair point. I think Clinton has always expected to lose New Hampshire though.
I just don't see Sanders as electable. |

To be fair and balanced...same probably applies to the Bush brothers. |

Not that particular woman...no I don't for a moment think she would have become a senator or SOS without Bill. Anyone that does is delusional IMO. :p

Being Bill's wife can be construed as an obstacle as well as a benefit. After all, the Clinton haters are still with us 20 years after Bill was President. Additionally, she won New York with 55% of the vote, which means she must have garnered a considerable amount of independent and possibly Republican support. She was also re-elected with a hugely increased majority in '06.
Clinton haters...Hillary haters...are we still at school? Oh please! Without Bill she would never, ever have achieved political office. |
