Read the article and figured it was typical journalistic shoot stiring, kids are tougher than that, etc, but then when you watch the clip, the poor kid does seem to be a bit pensive. Hopefully not the case.

I'd totally forgotten Ben Carson was still running for President. Maybe he should have told those kids how he'd tried to stab someone when he was a kid.

Apparently old Teds mama appears on the Canadian voter rolls. This means she had to have Canadian citizenship at a time when Canada did not allow, to my understanding, dual citizenship. They left Canada when Ted was 4 and the question would seem to be did his mother take Canadian citizenship prior to his birth. If so...ooops. A bit confusing to he sure. Non-citizens can end up on voting lists, doesn't mean someone was a citizen or ever voted though.

It's an issue today in 2015/16, so whose to say it wasn't also an issue back then?

I would not without more evidence assume his mother ever picked up citizenship in Canada based solely on being on the voter list.

Canada's legal position on citizenship is irrelevant to her status as a US citizen. The mother was a US citizen at the time of his birth because she was born in the United States -- his mother would had to have renounced her US citizenship in a manner that the US government would have accepted for her to have been otherwise.

The question is whether Ted Cruz is "natural born." I would argue that he is not as of today, as he is a US citizen because of naturalization, but that he could be if the law was changed.

The funniest thing to me is that at least twice in my lifetime the Republican party has discussed the possibility of trying to amend the constitution to allow a foreign born to be President......Kissinger, when everyone was so enamored with him, and Schwarzenegger when he was the soup de jour. Laughable.

Schwarzenegger acknowledges that climate change exists, the Repubs probably hate him now.
