Women Only Thread?
#46

I was just explaining why I'm not one for separating threads by sexes.

Feel free. We could have a black only thread, a gay only thread and threads where women would not be allowed to post. Threads for whites only? No niggers, jews, irish, dogs, or women?
Personally I think that the idea is the fruit of a certain mind set which is less to do with empowerment, and more to do with trying to assert superiority. The tone is firmly set as a put down, trying to establish women as superior, and men only involved as negative stereotypes.
Not sure about the above
Wiki posting isn't only the prerogative of males, and spite and malice are quite adequately represented in the female sector here. A few positively revel in it.
Has been known to be true.....thankfully one of the worst offenders seems to have taken flight...
Personally I like having input from all types, tho I will confess to preferring intelligent, polite discourse, and not the prattle of the intellectually subnormal and those that spit out their dummy if they don't get their own way.
BE has always been a bit of a debating assult course. You post an opinion here at your peril if you don't have the intellectual rigour to back it up. Personally I see that as part of the game. Those who wish to discuss crystals and angels without having nasty people allowing the real world to intrude should go and post on the fluffy bunny threads on another site, where facts and harsh realities are kept at bay.

But a women only thread? Well would I join the WI? Maybe, at a pinch, to see what it was like and hone my jam making. But I could hone my jam making equally well with a male friend whose bramble knowledge is legend! I joined the Beccles branch of the National Womens Register in the UK specifically because that particular branch insisted that each week there was a debating subject, often political or sociological, which one of us had to lead, and it wasn't allowed to descend into 'my kids did this' or 'my hubby did that' and we actually used our brains to create interesting and often challenging discussions.
Bit like BE mixed-gender, really
