When you choose a holiday destination, you should be aware of that country's customs and food and be prepared to be flexible. If you are a strict vegetarian, for example, Spain is probably not the place for you. Similarly a Muslim shouldn't expect to find halal food readily available in a non Muslim country.

Not giving Muslims and Jew halal and kosher meat is surely an infringement of their human rights? No?

Spain is in a mess financially, it needs money, why wouldn't someone want the obvious surge in cash Muslim tourists could offer. Have you read the article? Some of the figures are amazing and Spain is definitely a popular destination for obvious reasons. I have quite a few Gulf Arab friends and many look at Spain as a former colony and their interest is strong for all the cultural gems it has to offer, why not capitalise on that? If I had a bar/restaurant out in Spain I would definitely offer halal and kosher, just like I would vegetarian.

Hold on, my point is valid.

But very often the two don't mix. Stricter Muslims would certainly not want alcohol served on the premises and insist that all meat is kosher. To do it properly I think you have to be one or the other. The numbers are impressive I don't think it will be long before someone does open this type of establishment.

I know of a halal butcher in marbella, there are probably more. The Muslims who stay there don't seem to mind places that sell booze, the clubs and Casinos are full of muslims in the summer. There are a few mosques too.

if i had a bar/restaurant I would cater for the people who came in every day, not those who pop in to create a fuss because they haven't been catered for.
and I wouldnt serve anyone hidden under a head dress in the same way as I wouldnt serve someone not wearing a shirt or tee-shirt.
I would at least make a profit, unlike you unless you started serving halal to those who wouldnt touch it, without telling them
I see Gulf states as former colonies where men lost their lives needlessly due to the religious intolerance of people who would rather throw a hand grenade than sit down and talk.
as JLFS has the rightness of it all, this is just poking things with a stick to see what opportunities there are to..........
oh sod it
