I have just seen your first member...
Whilst walking into Chiclana from Pago las Deshillas an elderly man ran off into the wasteground with a piece of paper in his hand - expect he got caught short??

Re: Welcome To Forum Village
Have decided the village need a bit of livening up, so, I'm opening a nudist/naturist camp in the village, thought about opening it just outside the village, but though, hey this is the 21st century, so why shouldn't it be right in the village. Now all I need are members

How do YOU see the Spain forum? + Moving threads
Whilst I see the moderators point of view and their reasons for moving threads. I’m not talking about any specific thread here but I feel somewhat differently about the forum. I see the Spain forum in more of a village pub type light. It’s my local, I pop in most nights for a drink. Everyone is very friendly and I view most people as my friends. There are some who don’t mix much with others but that fine. We get strangers who pop in from time to time looking for advice about what the village is like and maybe do we know how the local system works, any good builders? Some stay for a while, some become regulars in the pub and join our circle of friends. Some move to our area, some just come down on holidays.
I don’t go to other pubs much as I prefer the company here (and don’t like the company there)
I value the advice more of my friends and the people I know.
I know whose advice I can rely on and who’s a bit dodgy in that department.
I ask the advice of my friends 1st then if nobody knows I might go to a specialist shop or another village.
Whilst the mods might feel the topic is not relevant to the Spain forum it might be relevant to the Spain forum users. Let’s face it at the end of the day if its not relevant or uninteresting it will get no replies and soon fall off the 1st page.
Just as an example the “Being Hacked” thread had absolutely nothing to do with anything Spanish really. Yet mrs teapot posted it here. Now I know if I was in her shoes I would have valued the advice more from people I know, rather than posting it the lab and being told by total strangers that I had nothing to worry about.
On the other side I can see the point that if the forum ends up just being idle chit-chat about nothing Spanish then people will come in and leave again because its not what it claims to be.
So do you get my drift?
Anyone else feel the same?

PS I expect Sam will see it differently as usual!

This forum is a support systems set in place for peeps who are thinking about, who want to or who have already made the move to Spain. We are here to suport anyone who has problems or needs advice or who just wants to share something with us. I for one would always come to my firends here in this fourm than go any where else. I keep an eye in the lounge and there is no way I would go there with a problem I feel completely out of my comfort zone in there. I am a creature of habit and It takes me a long time to trust peeps and I have trust and faith in all my friends here, even those that p**s me off and make me wanna shout. to you all.
Of course we do have the Forum Village thread that we could use more often for un-related Spanish topics. What do you think.

Re: Welcome To Forum Village
Right, since we all want a place to talk about crap basically, me included, why dont we just keep it here?
That way it saves jdr having to remind us things, (hint hint) and stops threads being moved.
Its pointless saying you want another sub forum if this thread is never used, if it proves popular then at least the Mods can see it would be a good idea, no?

Well I for one have taken comfort from sharing my experiences with my friends on here. Without whom I would have had quite a few sleepless nights. I know exactly what you mean Mr B.

Re: Welcome To Forum Village
On another forum I was on it got very chatty, much like the forum village but completely accross the forum. Lots of threads went off topic, and eventually people in general started to complain that it was no longer a forum but a chat room. A lot moved away to other forums. I'd agree, if you are happy to chat then you need to contain it to one area, but not lose useful info for everyone else. Not everyone will check the forum village, and if you have people asking for advice on there and being replied to, many people may miss out on valuable info that they might have otherwise seen by the topic heading.

Re: Welcome To Forum Village
Having just enabled the village for broadband communications my wife and i stopped at the pub one day to have a quick pint and noticed a house for sale rumor has it it was where andy pipkin and his estranged mother lived and in this house their was murder most horrid anyway we liked the look of the house figured a put a paint would cover up the blood stains and purchased it what sealed the deal for us was the lovely pub and the fact that the village now had ADSL.
