The Russians couldn't do it.

Knowing that, only a moron would think they could swan into Afghanistan and conquer it.

As to Libya it is obviously about oil, any politician that ignores Rwanda can never ever spout on about human rights etc.

It always makes me laugh when people whine and bitch about the "Oil Issue", yet they would be the first to whine and bitch about the rise in petrol and food prices the second we lose a reliable supply. f course its about oil, everything on the planet is, so what, if the net result is that people are saved from certain slaughter, as far as I can see its worth it!

I think it's all pie in the sky. It would have been drilled before if it was viable.

You really are an absolute fool who is totally incapable of reading someone elses post coherently. It should be obvious to even the most argumentative prat that I was behind our troops but against the politicians.
Pleases reread my post and try to make an attempt at understanding if you are capable.

You are absolutely correct but sometimes it is the only way to penetrate such a dense material and it made me feel better. Also there is the very slight possibility that you, and one or two others, may learn to read posts correctly.

Nah.

Graham.

So Gaddafi has just called a ceasefire according to his spokesman,....again.

However it's noticable that he hasn't even shown his ugly mug on TV these past two days.

Reading between the lines, there are signs that his grip is rapidly weakening over those around him.

He's probably cowering in an underground bunker somewhere,... just like hitler and saddam.

Heh - I doubt he's cowering in a bunker. I suspect though that he has to keep his eyes on his military leaders - who will be very frustrated seeing all their defence systems blown to bits. At some point even the most loyal follower will be asking where is this madman taking us? The danger is the regime keeps in control long past the point when the western forces can keep undertaking military action - the last thing Libya needs now is a prolonged stalemate/semi civil war between Gadaffi west and rebel east.
