Wanted: someone to teach basic web design

Sorry I looked up the programme on the web and saw it was for a Mac.
I looked up the programme you sue and found the website for it...then I went to look at some examples they have got of websites built by the programme. I found one with the code suggested for an email link.
So there must be way for you to add an email link.
Maybe contact them by email on this page.

Thanks CSE, I think the answer to the email thing is on that link somewhere. At the moment it is giving me a headache just looking at it so I'll tackle this with a fresh head over the weekend.
I have a gut feeling the formulario is going to be waaaay more complicated though!

If I have understood valeta's question correctly, you find the code (HTML) by using the menu option "View Source" in your browser. As far as I know, this is available in all browsers. (You can then save it to a file and read it through, edit it, add to it, etc., etc.)
Whether the site would "break" if you added HTML by hand, I can't say. It will depend on the site builder software itself, and I don't know this one.
When I used to teach these things, I found that adults at evening classes could pick up enough HTML to form a foundation for serious DIY in the very first class (2-3 hours.) I have NO idea why people use site builders, which often take longer to master than native HTML.

I would ask Cape Blue and Mitziboy: isn't the issue here one of fine tuning?
If you know what you want your Web site to do for you, and it's doing it, fine. Create it and tune it anyway you want.
But suppose it isn't doing everything you want? Suppose you can't see a way, using your package, to get the site to do what you want? At this point, there may be no substitute for knowing a bit of HTML.
Veleta (sorry for misspelling the name in my last post) gave this thread a new lease of life because of a very common frustration. How do you solve a problem like the email issue? Learn some HTML.
I would recommend to anyone who has a Web site, no matter how they created it, to learn the basics of this really quite straightforward markup language. (It's not a programming langauge, like C or BASIC or PHP: it's just a markup language.)
Type learn HTML into a search box. Click on the links till you find a tutorial that starts exactly where you are, and progresses the way you naturally progress yourself. As the comparer of Meerkats would say, "Simple."

Wow...this thread has legs!
I am all sorted for web design help with a nice Spanish chica who helps in others ways as well....by only speaking Spanish with me.
dr-designer: you might want them to swap out the "We are easy to find" picture (http://www.gurkhahouse.com/restaurant.html, or are they assuming that peeps only eat out really late?

Yes for sure, but some people just want a web presence for instance, nothing more. They arent interested in the cogs of it. For those people a site builder is just the thing

Not quite sure whether I should be commenting on one of my sites, but delighted other people are.
The ‘Gurkha House at night’ picture may well be too subtle. Daylight photos lacked atmosphere, and of course most people do go at night. I still take the point made by my two critics.
One thing: there is a popup title which appears if you move your mouse over the photo—but maybe no one is likely to do that.
Oh, and I wish I had a chica to help me out with Web design…

As it says in the title. Though I run a web business from me casa, I have been paying others to do the design work for me...between 3 to 10 sites each week. And I never get exactly what I want. So, time to do it myself. I need someone to come to my home (in Gandia) who knows how to design a basic website, happy to be paid per hour, and more importantly, can "teach" me! Please send me a private message.
PS I was called "difficult" by my teachers at school!

I was just wondering how you set up your IT business here is Spain OR
was it set up in the UK ?

My business is registered in the Seychelles, through entities based in Wyoming and Cyprus. My office and studio are in Budapest, but with most of my staff working out of the Philippines.
(Mmmmm....sound like one of 007's baddies). Oh, and even more glamorously, I live in Gandia!
As I very much doubt I shall ever have the pleasure of anyones' company from the virtual world of this forum, I should confess that my line of business is....PORN. Hope that doesn't leave anyone too "shaken, not stirred". It is true that I do sometimes introduce myself as an "Internet Consultant"...but I can't really see my business as coming under the "IT" heading.

Yes, peeps are no longer singing up to subscription sites as they now try and keep an eye on their credit card spending. Plus there are so many torrent sites that just rip all content and then offer it for a free download.
Personally I think the business "killed" itself by offering too much free content to try and entice the punters to sign up. If a restaurant offers free tapas, no one is going to buy from the menu.

As we're into constructive criticism, here are a couple more pointers you might find useful

> You use unordered lists for everything except... unordered lists! Instead you have a class="inset contact-bullet non-printing" thing to generate something that a UL could handle quite happily.
> It's good to follow a semantic structure - for example, you seem to be avoiding h2's altogether. Not the crime of the century but it is good practise.
> You have stuck the address inside a p instead of using the address element - effectively hiding the address from disabled users and Google (= location based searching).
Now I'll bet you wish your sites were as interesting as LittleFoundWolf's!
