Hi Ray;

I have left my documents and passport for non lucrative visa with BLS who confirmed all was ok.
I have now had an email.from.consulatre requesting that I register the S1.

I can complete the application form but not the validation as I don't have my passport now. It is with the Consulate who are considering my application but have requested the S1 be registered.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Do you have any advice as to how to

I could not find anyone to assist with doing the online preregistering of the S1,as my Spanish not fluent enough,so I ended up paying a company called Upsticks Spain to register it for me. They needed my S1 form in pdf style plus a few other details. The only other option was taking out a private health insurance for a year, fully paid which is obviously expensive. I would think you'll need to get your passport back from BLS to do the online preregistering.

We registered our S1 with Spain before we went to the Consulate as that is what we were told to do by our Spanish lawyer, but can't you just use a copy of your passport to register your S1, I am sure that that is what we did but we had copies from doing all the Visa process with the lawyer.

Thank you for a very useful document. Can i ask about timing? I will be moving to Spain next summer, but want to proceed with my NLV. Does the S1 form expire, or can i apply soon and use it for my NLV application next year. Thanks, Allen

To be absolutely honest I am not sure if there is an expiration date for the S1 once you have received it and before it is registered. We were just told to register it as soon as we received it so that we had the evidence by confirmation email we received back with a registration document for our visit to the Consulate. Of course you will need it registered also to get your TIE card and register with a GP once in Spain. You might find out about expiry of the S1 by googling it.😁

While S1 has no stated expiry date, if it hasn't been submitted to Spanish Social Security for some time (a couple of years), NHS will contact you to ask if you no longer need it so that they can cancel it. This has been my experience.

Its a few months since I made my NLV application now. But I seem to recall it doesn't accept UK mobile numbers. We bought a prepaid Spanish 'esim' online in the UK to enable us to give a Spanish number when it is required.
