well it seems Granada is the coldest provincial capital in the country
http://www.ideal.es/granada/20131117...311171454.html

but it is good news for the tourism that the snow on the top of the Sierra Nevada will bring this season (there is a proposal being looked at to keep the resort open until 5th May)

Can you see the Sierra Nevada where you live, through all those olive trees? If so, I am very envious! I've seen snow twice in five years on the Sierra de Grazalema, on the far distant horizon, but it's gone by lunchtime.

We had half a day of snow in my town in the winter of 2010/2011 and I was told that this was the first since 1982 and that was why everyone rushed to the windows in awe.

We usually get to see snow on La Maroma for a few days each year - in the far distance, which is quite close enough for me!

Usually see quite a lot of pretty snow-scenes from here but it's only ever dropped down to this level once in 50 years so the locals tell me.

Once again we seem to have been transformed directly from Summer into Winter, from 30c down to 8c in less than a week, though fortunately quite a bit later this year and whatever happened to the Gota Fria, hardly a drop of rain here for several months ?

Doesn't look great for the next week or two either with a mostly N.W. airstream taking over from the recent balmy weather.

A week ago, at this time of morning, I was in shorts and the dogs were running about with their leads looking for a walk in the rising sun.

This morning the skies are blue again, but I've just switched the heating on and the dogs are hiding in their warm beds, not even looking up at me.

It's difficult to type, my hands are ice-cold.

I hate shivering when getting out of the shower!
I have the heated towel rail on the first floor landing between my bedroom & the bathroom - there's a handy socket there & since we rent, I didn't want to drill holes in the bathroom tiles...

it's very useful for 'taking the chill off' .... & I put a pair of damp jeans on it this morning to finish drying

About halfway between where you are and the Mediterranean sea.

The last two nights the temperature has fallen to zero - in old money! Central heating on for 90 minutes in the morning and a log fire from 4 pm until 8.30 pm when I go to bed, under two duvets. Starting to snow now and the mountain tops are covered in the stuff.
