That's an interesting and largely true observation.

Although on economy/budget/short haul tall people can get extra leg room (at extra charge), AFAIK there are no extra-wide seats available charge or no charge, so the comparison is not accurate.

If O'Leary gets a sniff of it being acceptable to charge by weight then everybody will end up being weighed before flying (thin end of the wedge) what price civil liberties then?
Vacational flying becomes the domain for the privileged rich or the morbidly skinny if you take many of the arguments paraded above to their logical extreme.

I think that skinny people should be expected to share their seats with other skinny people in order to maximise profits for the airline - that's what democracy and capitalism is all about surely? Pull up the ladder, chaps, I'm aboard and s.d all the less fortunate!!

The aircraft which we travel in are constructed in the USA, where our obese is their normal, I wonder if they squeeze a few more seats in for the none USA market.

I think you have a point there crooksey.
My understanding is that American Airlines have wider seats as standard. Can´t be sure as I´ve never visited the States.

United have an 18" width compared to BA's 17"

Said on TV last week that European obesity figures are catching up fast. I think France was one of the lowest. I think the Dutch came out low. perhaps it's all the cycling

I flew with Emirates 1st class on a freebie when they introduced their new showers..the way to go if you want space. American Airlines has a bit more space and higher seat pitch but I don't think it would make much difference if sitting next to a fattie.

I recall footage of survivors of 9/11 running from the carnage, it started with slim and fit looking folk, but ended with very large people just managing to move.

But the Germans have been known to have the odd fatty, what we saw on a two hours stay in Benidorm beggared belief, some folk must have needed their electric scooters just to get from A to B, I suspect that many were from the UK though.

I find that Jet2's legroom suits my 6x3, 15 stones frame better than most carriers, my rheumatoid arthritis doesn't help either, but that's not anyone's fault.

Agoreira,

I refer you to my previous comment about yourself, it speaks for itself. ( Post 88 )

As he was using it in a "non rude" way, he was delighted that he could say a "rude" word with impunity and a twinkle in his eye, and he was hoping we would challenge him, then of course he would have explained with righteous indignation that he was totally innocent, and we had his intentions all wrong.

But he was only a kid, but I get the same feeling from your posts.

Attention seeking?
Just because you don't say it ( FATTIES ), doesn't mean you don't mean it.

I read your post number 28, and I see "IT" in your comments.

You know, "it's there", but it's not.

Anyway, I think it's time for your bath, all that rolling about on the floor.

Wrong BB.
I just had a look though why I´m still not sure.
MeMe didn´t say "Fatties" as you often do.
As for your comment "Just because you don't say it ( FATTIES ), doesn't mean you don't mean it.", well that´s just childish.
I could go on but I think you get the picture

I think it is time for a little bit of instruction in the English language.

In my post 28 I use the phrase "fat people" I did not use the word that you bandy about at every occasion ie "fatties".

And before you point out that it is the same as saying "fatties" it is not.

No more than saying "black people" and comparing to someone using the word "blackies". One word is the correct term and the other is meant as an insult, just like fatties.

Bald men and baldies is another example.

GROW UP

The thing is "YOU" don't get the picture.

Of course she did not say "FATTIES", I refer to that in my sarcasm.

It's what "I" am reading in "MY" interpretation.

I just see the element of "FAT BASHING" in between the lines. She makes five observations about "BIGGER" people.

As I said, to me she wears blinkers, I don't remember the last "FAT" person I saw, why would I , unless I am deliberately looking for them. I look at every body the same, yet she remembers three.

She may have a fantastic memory, but to me as I said she is very observational when it comes to "FATTIES".

The thread is about people who are so big or fat that they may have to pay more to have a bigger space on a commercial aircraft, so of course I make references to larger sized people

And you have the reasoning of a toddler, so am beginning to wonder if there is a minimum age for posting on BE, and quite possibly you have found us when you were looking for something more apprropriate to your mental age, like TELETUBBIES.

Nurse! You've done it again, you've forgotten to give Bertie his medicine, you know he talks uncontrollable infantile rubbish without his medicine. Double up on the dose! In the meantime, be a good boy Bertie and have a lie down, you're tired, you're not making any sense.

Agoreira,

Your post ( 86 )

*** including those that eat all the pies ***

... besides being offensive to the "FATTER" person, I also thought "that" comment was infantile???

But again, that's what "FAT BASHERS" do.

If you cannot see the offensiveness in your comment, you never will.!!!
