I am moving to Spain next month and despite having been on holiday twice a year for the past 7 years and being aware of the general price of things say at the supermarket I was wondering what I should take with me that costs alot more there?
On a slightly womanly note, would you say that tampons are alot more expensive if you would agree as I remember seeing them for quite a few euros in mercadona whereas here they are 69p?
Back to things in general, what other things would you recommend me buying in stock here and taking there? I'm not really bothered about foodstuffs as I know I will and do embrace all things spanish - aside from I will need marmite!!!
I've never really noticed before but are there such things as poundshop type shops in Spain? Places where we can get household cleaning things, beauty products etc at cheaper prices?
Any advice would be great thanks!

Ahh, yes, the Chinese bazaars!
Actually, I was going to buy a flatscreen TV here before we went but I found the same one on Spanish Amazon online and it was alot cheaper and so i think internet purchases on electrical goods is the same or cheaper than UK.

My neighbour bought a 40" LG from Amazon Spain last week for €399. It was £517 on Amazon UK.

Are LG TV's any good? They are all over the High Street in shop windows. Curry's have a 42" for about £379 and lots of models advertised in Argos etc. We once bought a Samsung in Fnac, marbella but then found out it wasn't the latest model

Actually they are not bad, and larger screens seem cheaper than the smaller ones.

There is very little difference between them Sony at the moment are recalling some of their tvs because of meltdown problems and both companies are in litigation against each other over patents. We are looking at buying a new one and the choice for us is either LG, samsung or the sharp, sony I would be happy with if I knew they had definitely sorted their meltdown problems. Unless you are going to spend an inordinate amount on one then probably the relevant connections are most important, one advertised on the Amazon site has only one HDMI port so take this into consideration and best of luck.

We have 1 Samsung and 2 sony bravias. The Sony that have problems are 2007/8. The Samsung seems equally as good as the Sony's.

I also have an LG direct drive washing machine, I find it to be a good brand and would buy the same again!

LG (stands for Lucky Goldstar after the merger of Lucky Electronics and Goldstar Electronics) is Korean, Sony is Japanese and they are direct competitors
Cigarette papers...for some reason they are more expensive in Spain than the UK

Some electronics in Spain are more expensive because they carry a special tax to cover copyright issues. This applies to anything that is capable of recording or copying. It includes disk drives, printers, copiers and blank media such as CDs and DVDs.
It can be as high as €227 on a photocopier and 44 cents on a humble blank DVD - all plus IVA.

Sony & LG had a 'Technology Sharing Agreement' whereby All new tech was branded Sony & the older parts once out of date were branded LG. A new LG branded tv would've been Sony 12 months earlier.
I've just checked & this agreement ended 3 years ago so yes you're all right the 2 companies are no longer connected
