There will be a lot of Spaniards winning tennis-competitions, cycling-competitions or formula-championships in the years to come but winning the world cup could be a once in a lifetime event for Spain, some sort of Spanish own '66.

Maybe fortunate for the baby that he never crossed Nigel Mansells path.
He would only have done it once,before having his lights permanently extinguished .

True, they are excelling at the moment in several sports. The under 19´s easily beat England yesterday at football in the semifinal as well. They´ve just had a fairly grim start to the athletics in Barcelona though, can´t seem them doing a lot there.

Now if only they included Darts,Snooker and Yard of Ale as Olympic sports, I reckon we could be in for a few medals and give the Spaniards a thrashing too.

And shove ha'penny, skittles, morris dancing etc. Add some rugby, cricket, boxing, we should be in with a shout! I'm sure we'll end up with more medals this week at Barcelona than they will, even though they are playing at home!

Hard to believe that the superfit Spanish on their healthy Mediterranean diets have taken a beating by the British, chips with everything, junk food brigade.

Last I heard 19 British medals incl 6 gold, as against only 5 Spanish medals with just 1 being a gold....and this in the Spaniards backyard at Barcelona !

Yes, I did say they would get far less medals than us. Jessica Ennis, what a lovely girl, even without the gold medal! But at least they are happy, Hamilton scored zero points due to a mechanical failure. Some pretty sad comments from the Spanish.

Quite enjoyed the race despite the fact it was a poor day for our guys.
Schumaker incident was a bit naughty to say the least,but he's been doing that sort of thing since he first started on the F1 circuit and getting away with it.
Unfortunately for him he forgot he wasn't in a Ferrari today, so for once he has to face the music. Today's incident smacked of stupidity,desperation or else downright vindictiveness. The commentators seemed to think he's lost the plot altogether and should pack it in before he kills someone.
The Webber Vettel battle is also interesting. Obviously Vettel has been favoured by the team,but have to admire both Webbers driving and spirit.
Although it's not been mentioned,I just wonder if he deliberately pulled a flanker today by shooting off behind the safety car and leaving Vettal more than the regulation ten car lengths behind.
