Sad as it is we are flying Ryanair in October, we booked last night.
Not flying with them for the last 6 years, we succomed in May, moving from our favoured Jet2. The reason? cost. In May we got the return flights and Hertz car rental for a few qid less than the flights alone with Jet2.
Last night we got 2 return flights and car rental with Hertz for £280 for 10 days. Flights alone with Jet2 were £448
So although we despise ryanair and his business model (cattle class) until something breaks with Jet2 pricing we will have to slum it.
Now before anyone picks me up on the wording, our last flight consisted of 2 1/2 hours of listening to shell suited chavs constantly swearing as loudly as possible, drinking from their own bottles and telling the cabin staff to f off. Constantly and loudly breaking wind and thinking it was hilarious and the most Godawful body odour that spread across the cabin, and this was from just one family, the whole plane seemed to be infested with this sort of people. Or as the wife said, it makes one proud to be a taxpayer and helping towards their benefit payments!

Usually lots of stag and hens flying to Alicante at weekends, heading for Benidorm. Adds a bit of a party atmosphere to the plane IMO and drowns out the noise of the crying babies a bit ...
Seriously though, not a big issue on a 2.5 hour flight is it really?

You must remember that most Brits do not live over here and don't have public sector and/or final salary pensions so can't afford to take multiple foreign holidays every year, which means of course, that they've probably taken a week or two off work and are looking forward to their one and only holiday in the sun.
They've probably got the cheapest flights at the most inconvenient and unsociable times, you know, checking in at 4am, so not worth going to bed the night before. This means that they can continue getting into the holiday spirit, which they've probably been doing since they finished work the previous day, which goes someway to explain why so many people are knocking back pints of lager with their full-english at five in the morning.
Or that's my theory anyway.

I see three Ryanair flights recently diverted from Madrid to Valencia just about made it, they had to issue mayday calls for help as they were almost out of fuel. They carry the bare minimum of fuel, best hope you don't get diverted with them.

Possibly for one flight, but for three highly unlikely I'd have thought not to carry at least sufficient fuel for a short diversion.
Maybe the crew were reacting to their commonly known pressures regarding time keeping and quick turn arounds, just as they've used other dodgy short cut stunts numerous times in the past.
In these particular occasions, if the passengers hadn't been warned of an impending serious risk, I'd doubt there was any risk at all.
Another interesting question in view of the conflict between Ryanair and various Spanish airlines and authorities, .......were Ryanair flights singled out for diversions as against Spanish airlines ?
If so then another possible explanation for the calls.

I always fly "rif -raf" class with Ryanair. Yes it is like a rugby scrum. but the less I spend on flights the more I have to spend when I get to there, and I would rather patronise the bars and restaurants in my "home" town in Spain than be ripped off by the bars and restaurants back here in Scotland!

This was from a couple of years back, Ryanair have form when it comes to carrying min fuel load possible.
The Ryanair flight on the 14th May was due to fly between Stansted and Alicante in Spain but ended up landing safely in Valencia, which is about 70 miles away
A “Pan†call was made by the pilot to indicate urgency due to the fact that they were now below the final fuel reserve and the aircraft was diverted to Valencia. But on the approach the situation was upgraded to a full emergency by making a “MAYDAY†call.
After the landing, the final fuel quantities were checked and it was found that there was just 440kg in tank 1 and 470kg in tank 2. The central fuel tank was empty.

Sorry, didn't know you were an aviation expert. Ryanair themselves admitted that it happened, they had to be given priority landing as they were so low on fuel. The voice recording clearly says the pilot called mayday. I doubt even Ryanair go around making mayday calls without good reason.

who said it was common knowledge that RYR told Air Traffic Control they were low on fuel in order to get a priority slot.
