what makes me sick is if my credit card bill is late arriving and I forget to pay it, or pay it late, they send me stupid letters threatening to take away my card !! but I had tenants in my house in UK who didnt pay rent for 4 months, trashed all my furniture, and didnt pay any bills either. and they had a 10,000 credit card bill......

Its all changing now Sue, many many people having there cards withdrawn or limits reduced, you are not the only one, the liabilities of many creditors now has far reduced, even catalogue companies are reducing limits in drastic ways

Andy, that is definately not the case. It's just that I am living here and relating my experiences of the last five years to you, who is hoping to come over and start a new life. I am actually trying to help, not give it the big "I am".
If my experience proves different from yours, so be it, we have to agree to differ, and will happily accept being proved wrong.

While im at it, I thanked JDR for his valuable information when I first started looking on this forum, in that post http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=525780 I also put and others, although earlier tonight I couldnt bring myself to mention one of the other names but I feel after our ongoing spats I should make it known the main one it was in fact is valenciatim, He also opened my eyes to what could have been a devestating situation I would have landed myself in.

Not quite sure where you are going with this, but;-
I come on here to help and to learn, where I can. I never aim to upset anybody, if I do then I apologise, but it is never the intention. Before I left the UK, I did NOT do enough research, although I felt I did at the time. What I try to pass on here is what I have learnt the hard way through managing to survive here legally with my wife and family for the last 5 years.
Since joining this forum, I have made some very valuable aquaintances, formed some very good online friendships, and have actually met a couple of people who I believe will be lifelong friends.
If I feel that I can help someone, then I will try my best, I'm just passing on my experiences. And I don't want to see people tripping up.
Can we leave it at that please?
Regards
Tim

Fair enough, It just get's my goat when I come on here as somebody who is seen to be so blinkered, I am what you could call a Ex Ex-Pat ??

I might not have the experience now, I still travel to Spain a lot, I did live there once, I had no family to support and I also had a stint in Ibiza, Its human nature not to be liked being put down, but to be put down by assumption is even worse. IMO Tim is a Top man and the thing is we share similar interests so we will always argue in some way or another.
