Some of the old ladies round here seem to live forever! Their husbands have been dead for years but they still carry on, scrubbing their doorsteps and lugging their shopping trollies up the hill every day to cook for their families.

The old men on the other hand sit in the bar playing dominoes all day and drive everywhere rather than walk.

I think they look older because they had a very hard life (some of them lived through the famines of the 1940s). They live longer, the ones that survived anyway, because they get plenty of exercise, and a healthy diet. Their kids who moved to the cities to find work are an average 10cm taller because they didn't suffer the postwar hardships that their parents and grandparents did.

I just meant the ones that I know their age look about 20 yrs older than they really are, not how long they live.

You should post your picture jackytoo, then we can all judge your age ourselves

I'm thinking that a British person who's spent all that time in Andalucia is going to look like one of those Sherpei's

Have you seen Madge from the comedy series 'Benidorm'? Gives you a good idea of what the sun can do.

Exactly my point in post 171.

About the only beneficial ingredient of these ridiculously priced so called anti-ageing creams that women pay a fortune for is actually a basic sun lotion or sun protector.

If the so called skin creams used by women were used in industrial workplaces then the employees would have to wear protective clothing to handle them on a long term basis.

Mercadona SP30 moisturiser, less than €5 - all a girl ever needs (and a sunhat of course!)

Why are some older British men so resistant to wearing hats or using sun protectors on their balding heads? They look like Swan Vestas!

I saw a doc. series a while ago, where various expensive products were tested and effects and results carefully monitored on a group of women and supervised by medical experts in the field of skin care.

After final examination at the end of the testing programme there was virtually no improvement at all in skin condition but on the contrary there had clearly been deterioration in many cases, the worst of which occurred as a result of use of the most expensive creams.

The amount of money that women throw down the drain on totally useless products never ceases to amaze me, though no doubt it sends the pharmaceutical companies laughing all the way to the bank.

Apparently sometimes they do work and it isn't the expensive brands costing hundreds that get the best results.

It would be interesting to see a Manufacturers Data Sheet for them, but are they made available - task for the weekend, try to find some..

in the UK ordinary common bleach is sold and thrown down the toilets by the gallon, no one worries too much about it in the home.
the exact same product in a work environment is treated as one of the most noxious products around, special storage, special handling, special training in use.

A bit like all that money men spend on things that are supposed to make their hair grow back, or make them smell more attractive to women?
