Policeman carry pistols in almost every country in the world. I'd rather they didnt, but if it means policeman become as arrogant and unfriendly as the British police force then maybe they should |

I've always found the British police polite, approachable and very professional. I wonder why your experience is different:confused:
Cman simply adds further weight to my different planet theory. |
Re: The Olympics
So now there's a bid from the F1 organisation to take over the Olympic stadium, so maybe a little good will come from it at the end of the day and definitely preferable to allowing that uncouth west ham mob getting their hands on it.

Re: The Olympics
Seems things aren't running too bad. I realise it may come as a disappointment to some of you but.......

Re: The Olympics
I have to say there are certain parts near where I live where the police carry automatic weapons. I suspect it's because various politicians and leaders live in that area (Connaught, near Edgware Road). There is also a place near Regents Park where I've seen armed police on occasions - again I suspect it's where someone important lives. And yes, when I worked on a contract down at Heathrow the sight of armed police was not exactly uncommon, nor is it unknown to see them at major train stations. However I don't expect to see the traffic police or the normal street patrols carrying them.

Re: The Olympics
There are now several olympic threads running. Shouldn't they be combined?
Alternatively as this one is on siesta time perhaps it should be reserved for only positive Olympic posts. |
Re: The Olympics
Yes, isn't it strange when almost everyone says they aren't interested in it:blink:

Re: The Olympics

It could be the lifeblood of BE for the next few weeks, though to be hoped not too much claret is shed. |
Re: The Olympics

http://sport.uk.msn.com/olympics-201...ent-of-britain my heart sank when it was announced we had been successful I thought it was a waste of money then even more so now I can understand the frustration that war battered Britain, on its uppers and in need of financial support managed to host the 1948 Olympics in the interest of bringing together the world after a very bitter war. And since then had been rebuffed over the past years. But the Olympics has lost its way, the committee has been proved to be corrupt and it is all in the hands of a few international brands. bah humbug |
