Unfortunately the OP didn't realise that and appeared to see it as a credible solution? I admit though I only read the first part of that post so yes I must ensure I read in full before replying lol

If my circumstances change and I want more than 90/180 I will deal with it accordingly in line with the visa or residency requirements at the time, in much the same way as any country that I live and work.

I think Spain would be an outlier if it did give favourable tax treatment to second homes. France has reductions for' principal residences and no reductions for second homes. I believe Gwynedd in Wales charges 300% council tax on second homes. Looked at that way, 100% for a second home you can stay at for up to half the year, has to be a better deal than 300%, even if you could be there for 100% of the time.

Good morning , just an observation really but I have been considering how the various Schengen governments managed to make legal the fact that a property owning tourist may only spend six months of the year in EU but quite openly defraud us by charging a whole years' council tax ?

Just make sure your house doesnt get robbed or catch on fire during those months as you have not paid for these services...

You could extend the neive argument to many other services, standing charges for electricity and water for example and wouldn't it be great if you could only pay your car tax and insurance for the time the car was actually on the road and being driven, sadly it of course doesn't work like that.
