The strange thing is frog if people did not have the sense of adventure and to try it for themselves we would still be under the illusion that the world is flat.

If you try it and it does not work out there is nothing wrong with returning home you may have to start over again but at least you have done something for yourself and learned that "right now" was not the right time but not to try at all leaves you wondering "what if"

Sometimes it is not about how much it costs or how much you could loose it is about finding a little bit of yourself. Good luck to anyone who tries.

Good luck to all the future new arrivals. We have been here in Alhaurin de la Torre for 4 weeks temporarily and moving to our new abode in two weeks just outside Mijas. We are renting for 11 months to see, just like many others, if we will want to settle here.
We don't want to live in UK anyway, so looks like we will be settling here!
To use the old phrase, we are at a crossroads in our lives, the only difference is that our crossroads has a roundabout on it too!

Exactly couldn't agree more; I hope we love it there but if for some reason we don't I still don't want to come back to the UK. 6 Weeks to finishing work and 7 weeks until we leave, can' wait. No more commuting in the drizzle, fab!

Just in case you're interested. It rained for four months starting mid December, floods, landslides and apart from the odd sunny day, its been pretty unsettled, windy and cold since! Today I've felt cold wearing jeans and a sweat shirt. Altho the sun has come out occasionally theres been a really chilly and strong wind. Tonight I've got the fire on!

We are here in the campo just outside AeG. Been here a year.

AeG is a nice little town with a good mix of nationalities. Still retains it´s Spanishness and you can sit up in the old town and speak Spanish all day or head for the newer bits and speak English, if that is your thing.

The town doesn´t really lack anything, but what you don´t find here you can find in Coin (La Trocha shopping centre), Malaga or on the coast.

If you need any advice just ask.

Is this years bad weather freak? We were hoping for short mild winters |
I remember reading Driving Over Lemons (Chris Stewart) and there first winter was horrendus, it rained and rained and evetually washed away the bridge to the house!

Apparently, according to the locals, we have had more rain in the last three months than in the past 5 years combined. So freakish yes but don´t expect unadulterated sun 365 days of the year.

That said I am currently having a beer under blue sunny skies, having been in the pool today

Just got back to Blighty to collect the dogs now most of our stuff has arrived. (Stuff that has not arrived seemed to disappear in transit as we watched them load and unload, amazing how the van was never tampered with and we must be mistaken that it ever went on) Have to sort out with their insurance company, one thing I have learned is take it yourself and hire a van, many people we have spoken to while passing the time of day seem to have had things vanish in transit)

The 2 weeks that we have been at Alhaurin el Grande only saw 1 day with any rain that would be called heavy. Have returned sun burnt and looking forward to returning with hounds, strange how quickly home becomes where the heart is.

Those of you looking to move to Alhaurin personally I think it hits all my needs, just wish they would finish the Mijas road so at least we can sit outside without getting covered in dust, lol. Left last night and they had put the hardcore down so hopefully when we get back we will have new asphalt and be able to get into our driveway.
