It's about time the plug was pulled, you won't be missed. |

Absolutely true. I know a guy who was a DCI on the Flying Squad, when the chinless wonders at the top still gave them some allowances to bend the rules a bit to get the big guys - you can't get them any other way.
He was particularly successful in getting armed robbers back from the CDS, before Spain signed the extradition treaty, but he got into big trouble. They took his rank away, stuck him back in a uniform, and gave him a bike to ride around the M25. He was a big man who liked a drink, and fell off his bike on the first corner, getting him an immediate injury pension. Nowadays, he wouldn't last a minute in our police force. |

So this is a thread about how bad the police did, instead they should act recklessly and I think people are saying immorally and illegally. People are saying that the police making sure that they are not investigated by other police for crimes is a bad thing.

Christ, Matt, your comments, as usual, are daft, irrelevant and plainly insulting. You're trying to ruin yet another thread, like you've done a thousand times before.

It's about time the plug was pulled, you won't be missed. They've gradually been pushed into a corner from which it's almost impossible to continue policing properly. We don't know the full facts to judge wether or not earlier action would have been appropriate in this case, but remember the furore when they almost got it entirely wrong about that taxi driver a couple of years back. Basically they're damned if they take hasty action and they're damned if they don't. |

I think the post regarding the police response were quite relevant.

Right, I'd like proof please. No bickering, no baggage, no crap, just a serious question. Where is your proof of this sweeping statement?
A real eye opener from a guy with no axe to grind against anyone other than to expose the inefficiency and red tape within the force. There are others by the same guy and another with similar sentiments I read recently by a serving female officer. They all tell very much the same story. How they manage to operate at all under present circumstances and restrictions is truly amazing. |

So on the say so of an obvious self publicist you make a judgement? If its "almost impossible" to police properly why do we not live in a completely lawless society? Your use of the word "impossible" suggests that we do. Thats what I am challenging.
There is already a sizeable section of society with zilch respect for the powers of law and order and I'm not only talking about lefty extremists by a long chalk. |

I suggest you read and digest rather than prejudge and also others like it.

Re: Missing girl 'Tia'
Can we calm down just a little bit please.
It won't be the police in the dock - just the nasty step grandfather. Save your bile for him - but of course it might be someone else. We're not prejudging here of course are we? |

And to you, it seems. I read this thread this morning, I've been out most of the day enjoying the great weather, came home for tea, you were still going on, been out walking again this evening to enjoy the great weather, come home and you're still at it. Have you people no other life apart from this forum, you seem to spend your whole life on here. And for some, this is just one of the many forums they use, get a life FFS. I love the Spanish based foreros on this site that bang on about the weather, how do they know, they never leave the computer.

Re: Missing girl 'Tia'
Ignoring the nonsense posted by the distractors, the prime suspect has been arrested.
It confirms the statistics that most murders are committed by people known to each other. Sadly, the other stereotypes are present as well. New Addington is a large, shit housing estate like Dagenham, Harold Hill and Basildon. Low level people lumped together by poverty, with crime levels to reflect the reality. Broken relationships, step this and step that, drug and alcohol abuse. It's a sad fact of life and children are more likely to be abused in such an environment. |
Re: Missing girl 'Tia'
Its a shame someone so young could have lost their life because of one of the very people they should feel safe and confident with.
Every time this happens there is lots of hand wringing and people diving for cover who may have been in a position to have stopped it but didnt. :frown: |
