Even if my question wasn't really answered & I still don't know the Spanish word for Standoff, at least a few people have learned something & will be safer painting the gutter next year.

I think (remains to see if I'm proved wrong!) your question was answered in that there isn't a direct translation!! And yes, I have learned stuff and I bet others have!

Delving thru my H&S notes I have not been able to get an answer and online dictionaries, as I am sure you are aware, appear to be useless.
I am hoping you will be able to ascertain an answer for us all on your next visit to Brico, or I will be able to do the same in about a month's time - if people can wait that long.

extending this a little I have tried to get a translation for Business Card and have
TARJETA DE PRESENTACIÓN
TARJETA DE NEGOCIOS
TARJETA DE VISITA

the last one seems to be the favourite but does anyone have any alternative suggestion, as plain old Business Card is also up there as well.

Regards.
As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Rosemary
