'TV keeps you in touch with British culture.'
To make your point I think it would have been better if you had inserted the word 'Pop' between British and Culture. I really don't think television especially does much to keep you in touch with British Culture unless you consider soaps and /or Reality TV culture!
Do you feel any the less for not knowing about Dr Who etc. I've more or less lived outside the UK since 1962 and I don't feel especially deprived of British Culture per se
As for your not knowing much music between the Shadows and Led Zepp well I'm going to have to take that with a pinch of salt :-) as IMO UK pop culture started being exported in the late 50's I remember very well buying the first Animals LP in Singapore way back in '64

Because we are British and have the universal right to all things British where ev were are because anything foreign is sub standard. Do you know there are places where people do not speak or understand English. Like wot we speaks.
Lets face it when the new Astra sats change the UK broadcast envelope, Sky and others enforce internet access by charging more for it. Viewers discover that their slow IT connections will not allow them to watch even the subscription sites the attractions of living in " the UK in the Sun " will diminish.

[QUOTE=Saxy;10623118]The issue is about large corporate companies (ITV, Channel 4 & Channel 5), trying to quash the entrepreneurial little man, and spoil my selective viewing
[/QUOTE
Rubbish it is just about you wanting to watch UK TV in Spain for Free.
As the song goes, " the times they are a changing ".

all that is happening is that someone thinks they can sell something to a little man (who has no muscle other than the $7.99 subscription fee) that they have admittedly stolen.
This has built up a following similar to that of Robin Hood, taking from the rich and giving to the poor - so long as they sign up for it.
I just cannot understand why you can't see that you are being used as a foil in all this, used by the big man with the money to give him more money to meet your small and pathetic needs. The masses of people like you will cause an upswell of sycophantic chanting to leave "the man" alone because he meets your needs.
The next stage will be having a standard 3.5mm GPO jack fitted to your cerebral cortex ..............................
must go, this is eating into my 5 hours allocation of Spanish TDT and the weather is about to start
good night.
