Help on places to live!

And you live where ?
What a load of crap, it may be a bit rough down 24 hour square, but then what do you expect with a name like that.
Fantasy tv shows, well we all know about seriously edited tv shows don`t we, as soon as the cameras roll so do the idiots.
I am about Los Boliches quite a bit and have yet to see drug pushers and prostitutes along there.
The worst i have seen are the looky looky men with their handbags, dvds and the Chinese with their stupid bloody flashing earrings.
Oh yeah and the Spanish guy that plays the accordian.
When you are in the area call me up and you can show me the spouted crap.

You have obviously not been near where I live or you would soon change your mind, all nationalities live here, so where your alleged mate gets his info from is beyond me.
Perhaps he has been watching too many TV setup shows.
Anytime you want to see Los Boliches just give me a shout and we will go out and get some drugs, pull a prostitute, get on the TV show and buy a handbag full of DVDs and flashing earrings, then we can have a coffee and listen to the guy on the accordian.

Ooh thats a big difference
There are 3 parts to Benalmadena - Costa, Pueblo and Arroyo de la Miel
Costa is like a holiday resort and yes is a bit dodgy with 24 hour bars and a big "British council estate", but there are better parts too, the marina is pretty smart, although it is not as lively there as a few years ago.
Then you go up the mountain and get to Arroyo de la miel which I personally really like. You have lots of Spanish holiday makers there, a highstreet, and excellent tennis club and ice rink. It is likely a functioning proper small town. And you're only 1-2km away from the beach.
Then go further up and west by 4km and you get to benalmadena pueblo (where I leave). Along with Mijas is the only village near the coast worth visiting imo (Marbella old town is nice too). Pretty and nice village atmosphere. Mainly full of people who live here with maybe 50% Spanish and the rest from all kinds of nationalities. There are loads of modern flats (many a bit dead and empy on the outskirts of the village) and pretty old townhouses on the village itself.
Very safe and I'm impressed with the sate nursery that is close to me

My knowledge of the Costa del Sol is a bit dated, but I was back there last year for some half-hearted house hunting.
Ignoring Sotogrande and Marbella itself, I think that Estepona and San Pedro are nice places to live, but expensive. So is Benalmadena, perhaps up the hill a bit from the coast, and the Pueblo is beautiful, so is Mijas. Mijas Costa and Arroyo are a little cheaper, but still still good places to live.
I'm assuming that the OP is looking for a family type of environment, otherwise there are coastal places bouncing with everything a more carefree person could look for.
