Politics and Sport :frown:

Spain’s Secretary of State for Sport, Michael Cardinal, will be in Zurich tomorrow to communicate to FIFA officials Spain’s outright objection to Gibraltar’s UEFA bid.

According to the popular Spanish sports magazine ‘AS’, Gibraltar will be at the top of the Spanish politician’s agenda. Sr Cardinal will reportedly put on record the Spanish Football Federation’s opposition to Gibraltar becoming a permanent UEFA member.

‘AS’ claims Spain’s highest sporting authority will make it clear they intend to do whatever’s necessary to prevent the upgrading of Gibraltar’s ‘provisional’ UEFA status.

well the SNP are going to have a vote on Scotland becoming a non-nuclear country, although they seems to want the protection of a heavily nuclear NATO.
so in the event of a war we may or may not depend on Scotland

perhaps the UK should be thinking about moving the nukes to Gibraltar - anything to upset the Spanish - especially as they already have experience in carrying out some emergency repairs

Cataluna (a rich province) is wanting to leave Spain and Gibraltar (a rich foreign country) is not wanting to join.

Perhaps Spain should take a very long, hard look at what is wrong.

Yes, probably a bit galling for the Spanish that nobody seems to want anything to do with them. There are still fifty odd countries around the world that want to be part of the Commonwealth and keep some connections with UK, whilst I can't think of any of Spain's former possessions that want anything to do with Spain.

Supposedly more miles of road inside the Rock than outside of it.

This magazine still available in Gib shows a lot of holes and other interesting information

All this nonsensical talk about Gibraltar being given back to Spain doesn't take into account the wishes of the Gibraltarians who agree almost unanimously they'd rather be Gibraltarian, British...anything but Spanish.

Can't understand for the life of me what the British Empire has got to do with any of this...

The Spanish often use Gib to stir up nationalist feeling when the economy is up s*** creek. Strange to find a socialist sticking up for Rajoy's evil lot.

Spanish workers plan to stage protests against any frontier problems

They go on to blame their own government for interfering with the free movement of Spanish and EU workers

The Daily Mail has got it wrong again ;)

It never happened, the mayor of Algeciras has said so.

Our dear friend across the bay, the mayor of Algeciras José Ignacio Landaluce, says the incursion into our waters on Tuesday by the Spanish Navy patrol boat never happened. It is all a figment of the chief minister's and Gibraltar's over active imagination.

The queues are normal at the moment, not horrific but still far too long
