Rio Cedena towed to Algeciras Port after running out of fuel in BGTW
A Guardia Civil launch had to be towed to Algeciras Port after it ran out of fuel inside British Gibraltar Territorial waters this morning. The vessel came into Gibraltar waters this morning, and was challenged by the Royal Navy with a warning.
However, the vessel then issued a distress call, and the Gibraltar Squadron’s priority then became providing assistance.
Two other Spanish vessels – The Rio Tormes and a Guardia Civil Rib, then sailed into Gibraltar waters and towed the Rio Cedena back to Algeciras.
The Foreign Office has confirmed it will be filing a complaint to Madrid, as it does whenever any illegal incursion into Gibraltar waters is reported.

I suppose the temptation to nip through the the waters off the southern tip of Gibraltar to get from Algeciras Bay into the Med, saving time and fuel, is too much for some skippers (only 600 ?).
Don't you think Gibraltar is beginning to sound like an over-zealous parking meter attendant ?

I'm still LMAO about the Spanish police boat that ran out of fuel in Gibraltar waters. That's one skipper who looks like being re-assigned to border foot patrol in Cueta.
