Apparently Gibraltar is one of the places where those in receipt of WFA will lose it under the new rules to be announced.
Those living in Spain will be the biggest losers with nearly 50,000 claimants.
Apparently over £50M /year is being paid to expats in one benefit or another.

I take it then Fred and JT that you are in full agreement with HMG and that the WFA sould be withdrawn from all expats in Spain and Portugal.

Actually if anything it proves that HMG does not regard Gib as part of the UK and that expats who live there claiming or in receipt of UK benefits are on the same level as those in Spain, Greece. Portugal etc.

Well it's not much of an issue anyway because hardly any expats live in Gibraltar.

No it isn't. The WFA will be set on weather criteria.

perhaps just semantics, but I cannot see how "Those living in Spain will be the biggest losers....."

all that will happen is that they will all lose £200. For some this was a bonus anyway as it wasn't paid when they first retired, it was given to them by an edict from EU Headquarters.

so no one will lose "big", and lets face it - they never got the chance to refuse it, it was just given.

and IIRC £50m paid to people who have worked for more than 45 years in the UK and paid their taxes and dues is less than that paid out to workers in the UK who have children who hardly know where the UK is (other than daddy lives there) and have never been to the country.

Some of us never even lived 45 years in the UK but still get WFA which is a pittance compared with what my present government gives me.

It is just that there are many more expats in Spain thuse more will lose out.

There must be expats in Gib because according to HMG it is not the UK thus those who have UK passports living there are Ex Patria.

I think the WFA will disappear for everyone anyway. If there is a Government who has the bottle. TBF I think it should be taxed at source.
