Mr Hollobone also wants the British Government to examine “…how the UK might raise at EU level the issue of legal problems arising from Spain’s relationship with Ceuta and Melilla.”

Spain has always argued that Gibraltar cannot be compared to Ceuta and Melilla because the two Spanish territories enjoy a different constitutional status to the Rock.

But the fact that the issue has been raised in the Commons will rankle with the Spanish Government, which is very sensitive to matters relating to its two North African enclaves.

The Chairman of the Fishermen of La Linea group, Leoncio Fernandez, announced yesterday that he will follow the Chief Minister to any speech he gives in Spain, Europasur reports.
Mr Fernandez was part of a group of fishermen who shouted that Mr Picardo and Gibraltar had ruined their livelihoods and brandished a banner that read “Picardo Fascista.

WTF are you ranting about
The title of this thread is "Gibraltar" and covers the vexed subject of the blockade of Gibraltar by the Spanish authorities, restricting movement to and from as well as excessive search and seizure based on rules that only they know about. Also the problem of Gibraltar and its boundary, the Treaty of Utrecht and its sea surrounding are being discussed.

If you want to discuss something else then you have everyone's permission to start a new thread about anything you feel like, just make sure you post in the right place - General Spain, Siesta Time for anything not relating directly to living/working in Spain and the good old Plaza de Toros which is for anything that may prove contentious and cause a God Damned Almighty Arguement.

best of luck

Exactly.

The unrivaled display of ignorance on the subject during the OPs early days had to be seen to be believed.

Having no doubt since realized just how totally clueless his original posts were, it appears he now confines himself to a simplified policy of prejudice and pure hatred.

As for claiming Fred would be the only poster, I wonder if he's ever done his own post count on Gibraltar related threads ?

Truly amazing for one so clueless.

Ah well,.... empty vessels....................as the saying goes.

So speaks yet another who has an opinion, ( in his case usually biased and in ignorance of any facts ) on almost everything.

I will bypass for now on the tobacco, but as for fuel:-

This morning I filled up with diesel in Villa Real S A €1.289 / ltr

Wednesday I filled up in Gib @ £1.048 or €1.26

when the exchange rate available in an exchange bureau was £1=€1.20

Not a lot of difference, also I believe fuel in Ayamonte is cheaper than VRSA

Queues of up to three hours were experienced by drivers crossing into Spain on Saturday afternoon due to thorough checks executed by the Guardia Civil. The situation was at its worst between three and four when only fourteen vehicles were allowed to cross. There were however no queues for pedestrians or for those driving into Gibraltar. Normal flow resumed at around five.
