Which brings me, to some very interesting but important information received by Panorama and ‘attributed to an FCO spokesperson in London’ who has surprisingly revealed, that Gibraltar is not alone and that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office are with us? It certainly does not look that way!

According to the information passed on to this newspaper, which will surprise many people ‘the FCO have 20 members of staff ‘working on the Gibraltar desk. This number we are told, is divided between the FCO London desk and the one here at the Convent.

In fact if these figures are correct, because at first glance they are difficult to believe, even if they did come from inside FCO HQ in London SW1 you immediately have to ask’ Just what are they doing for Gibraltar?

FCO has a 20 strong Gibraltar Desk task force… But what are they actually doing?

The Government is to issue a new Electronic ID Card, with the first of these expected to be ready by late June. The project, which is costing in the region of 1.3 million pounds, was described by the Chief Minister as one of the most exciting developments of his term in office. The card has layers of security features and will be used to access E-Government, services as well as for travel.

War of words over Monday's incident at sea

An incident in waters off the North Mole on Monday afternoon continues to court controversy, with the Gibraltar government engaging in a war of words with the Guardia Civil union over what exactly happened.

In a statement, Number Six rejects the Spanish union’s version of events as untrue, reiterating that the Guardia Civil boarded a local vessel illegally.

An officer of the Royal Gibraltar Police was injured as a result of the Guardia Civil’s manoeuvres, who reportedly obstructed the RGP. The Civil Guard officers have also kept the two local fishermen’s identification documents.

The article specifically rejects the statement about Bluefin Tuna so why do you believe the GC over the British version - is this just another example of your unreasoning and unreasonable prejudice against Gib.
