Re: Gibraltar 2
The delays at the Gibraltar frontier have been happening frequently since it was re-opened in 1982 and have continued despite Spain and Gibraltar being in the EU
However at the moment it is the local Spanish economy that is suffering whilst giving a boost to Gibraltar's economy

Fred knows that Gibraltar has never been in Schengen nor the Customs Union.
Delays at the border at times were inevitable.

Gibraltar Residents will not need an International Driving Permit for Spain after the 30th of June.
The UK Government has been engaged with individual countries and has reached agreement on the continued recognition of driving licences on a reciprocal basis. The permit is still required for Croatia, Cyprus, France and Italy
There is no requirement for vehicle number plates to be changed from an EU format to a non-EU format in order to drive a vehicle in Spain and in the rest of Europe. However the Spanish authorities may enforce requirements with respect to Gibraltar registered vehicles having to display GBZ stickers.

British Airway's CityFlyer operated its inaugural service from London City Airport to Gibraltar on Friday afternoon.
The new service is operating twice weekly until the end of September on Fridays and Mondays with the more compact Embraer E190 aircraft.

I can't get my head round that. Why would you be required to change to a non EU format to drive in the EU ?

And all we ask, Madam Chairman, is for the opportunity to exercise the right to self-determination, just as many of the countries represented here today have done before us.
I submit, Distinguished Representatives, that the mandate of your committee is clear.
Your mandate is the decolonisation of the remaining territories on your list of Non-Self-Governing Territories in accordance with the wishes of their inhabitants.
In the times in which we live there can be no other way.
This is no longer 1704 or 1713.
The Government of Gibraltar very much hopes that a new treaty can now be concluded. Today, Gibraltar makes a positive economic contribution to Spain.
Fifteen thousand people live in Spain and work in Gibraltar.
Most are Spanish citizens.
Gibraltar imports some 1.8 billion dollars’ worth of goods from Spain annually. And Gibraltar accounts for some 20% of the GDP of the neighbouring Spanish region.

Re: Gibraltar 2
The proposed deal for Gib joining the Schengen area with Spain taking responsibility for the boarders at the airport and port thus allowing the removal of the current boarder between Gib and Spain is a win win situation for all concerned and will improve both Gibraltar and the Campo Gibraltar area for everyone concerned and will give the western Costa de sol a new airport, the sooner this is completed the better.

If Gib was ever to fall into Spanish hands they would destroy this asset with their CORRUPTION.

Hopefully this will be overturned. It should have never been put to the population.
