Prince Charles in visiting Spain. the Spanish daily newspaper El Mundo asks, would Charles make a good king? Press sà or no here.

I am surprised that as many as 72% of (I presume) Spanish people think he would not make a good king. They are probably comparing him with their own Prince Felipe.
I don't know if British people will accept him but I think he is getting a bit old for the job now. Assuming the Queen continues for a few more years he will be past normal retirement age (he will be 63 in November). I also think his ideas and attitudes are a bit old fashioned for a 21st century monarch.
I think once Prince William and Princess Katherine have produced an heir (and perhaps a spare) then the crown should pass straight to him by-passing Charles and Camilla.

The royal loving slice of the country will go with Charles.
Personally I would like to see the crown bypass Charles and William and go to Harry.

It's not a bloody raffle!!!
Charles will be a fine King and far better than that "wet" son of his!
I'm not even British, but have always had great admiration for the man. Never liked his first wife.
Giving commoners what they want is never a good idea, as the commoners don't know what's good for them.

I think it is too late for him to be King now his mother obviously does not think he is made of the right stuff or she would have stepped down instead of letting him be bypassed.
I agree, give the Harry the job he is more than qualifed if the press is to be believed, if I do read anything by reporters, I read it all with big pinch of salt and read around their sensationalising writings.

Obviously the Spanish are pretty good judges.
Lets hope his Mother continues to be also.
Charlie is so far removed and out of touch with the ppl.of the UK, he may as well have come from a different planet,....sometimes I'm almost convinced he did.

Of course Charles is out of touch.
So are his sons. How can they be otherwise when they have been raised in absolute privilege, have no real qualifications, and are surrounded by fawning lackeys?
I love the posts on here that seem to think that one royal is better or worse than the other.
The whole point of a royal family is that you have no say, there is no minimum requirement for the job, and you get what you are given.

I would say his Sons are a bit more in touch with reality than he is, partly due to the fact that they have been more in touch with us commoners than he ever had been at that age.

It is extremely unlikely that the Queen would abdicate voluntarily - it has never happened before with the obvious exception of Edward VIII in 1936.
Also, Prince Charles WILL become next monarch (provided he is still alive) at the time of the death of his mother. There is no choice. If he wishes to abdicate he will do so from a position of being monarch.

His bizarre thinking on such things as SCAM (So Called Alternative Medicine) are a bit of a worry and demonstrate lack of ability to think critically but I am sure when he becomes king he'll be told to shut up.

When I think of someone from a privileged background, I somehow think of perhaps an envious lifestyle, but I could think of nobody I'd least want to be than a Royal, it must be an absolutely horrendous life. Unfortunately, they are born into it, they have no choice, not like you or I, we can choose to do with our lives whatever we fancy. As for marrying into the Royal Family, she must be mad!
