Portugal was classified as "Junk Status" at the same time as Greece.

If anyone has been to town or going to town can you let me know what the exchange rate is at the booths and banks, we are offered 1.10e to the pound, think it might be better if we take sterling out with us.

Don't mention it's gone up shhh

Been turmoil on the spanish stock exchange today. Down by 5.4%. Zapatero was forced to deny that spain needs a bail out larger than Greece.

The only real measurement is against the USD.

The pound is falling today but not as fast as the Euro which is at a 12 month low against the USD.

It's good that the result is that the GBP/EURO is better but let's not kid ourselves that it's going up in global terms.

Yes it is down against the US Dollar and a number of currencies but up against the Euro and a number of others. To be honest I'm interested in the Euro only wish it would continue but who knows? Depends what happens Thursday we will have to wait and see.
Just a thought but could be going up because Gordon is too busy to interfere.

I used to work forn the N/wide and know it can be done. If you have a UK address then just apply using it. If not just say you are returning to the UK and use a family address in the UK so they can do a credit check.

Don't they ask for utility bills like some of the other banks?
