Well, it certainly is doing for CamClegg if they stand a snowball in hell's chance of being able to deliver even ONE of their stated objectives when they took office.

I saw Billy Bunter (sorry, Eric Pickles) on the Politics Show yesterday confidently assuring us that yes, the problem of the 120,000 worst dysfunctional families in Britain who are costing the country £9 billion a year will all be sorted out before the next election. Yeah, right.

I wonder why the European press are soo irritated by the UK stance. Could it be that they wanted the main financial centre in France and Germany or are they scared we won't be buying German cars, French wine, chemical cucumbers from Europe etc. If they don't like it then let them close the UK membership. I like the ridiculous statement there will be a 2 speed Europe, implying the UK will be in the slow lane Yeah the eurozone is speeding on a downward spiral.

As for the useless lib-dem partners, Cameron should put his foot down with them. Sack Clegg and the others from their piddly party.

I see that the pound has risen a tad against the euro to 1.18, so there must be some confidence in Camerons decision out there

Though a painful read for a British national, the article is spot on. The Eurozone especially, and even the EU itself, is much better off without the UK trying to block every move to move forward.

The UK may also be much better off out of the EU, but maybe that only applies to England and not Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

England and the Tories will cling to the idea of Empire, and the friends across the Atlantic, for at least another hundred years; Labour might change its mind in twenty, leaving only the Lib/Dems to beat the tiny drum for Europe.

And after their act of treachery in siding with the boys from Eaton, who's going to vote for them?

If they are gonna "cling to their empire" they could start by getting the banana/sugar trade going again in some caribbean islands instead of buying from French companies in S.America. The UK could invest some of the money saved by getting out of the CAP policy which favours French farmers.

If the markets were that logical then it was be a piece of cake to play the market and become a millionnaire

The slight increase in the GBP:EUR rate today is just as likely to be traders shorting the pound, hoping they make a killing as the GBP drops against the EUR over the next few weeks

Not necessarily. They only play that game when things are quiet. They run when something scares them.

Sure, but then you see big drops, 4-5%, not 0.8%

That smells of people playing the market to me

I think the euro is dropping due to lack of confidence in the Euro, the summit deal seems to be failing cos of this Cameron thing. But hey, who knows, thats what makes the currency markets exciting. No one really knows, its a gamble and thats partly what started the problems off in the first place

I dont know what newspapers you read, but some of your opinions are strange

The summit deal isnt failing, everyone is behind it except the UK. Which means it will be passed but the UK will be isolated from Europe

In the meantime the almost bankrupt countries still have to find a way to pay their debts. Friday's summit meant nothing, that's why the markets have fallen today and borrowing costs are climbing again. UK isolated....I wish
