In all languages there are words in common usage that don't appear in any formal dictionary!
Unfortunately for some people unless the words are written in stone they refuse to acknowledge their very existence, but if that had been the case throughout history we would not have the modern languages that are in use today.
In my own part of England there are many 'none existent' words frequently in use, in fact there has been a book written explaining the meanings of our unwritten language to the uninitiated.
Yep, there are 'phrase books' for different dialects even within a small place like England.... Norfolk squit, Deb'n & Zummerzet, etc etc. And not just accent, use of words too. (used courteously, of course)

I think the Someset dialect is often called Mummerset, like the London one is called Mockney.

Yes I know someone who calls their wife "La Flaca" whenever he talks about her

Doesnt mean that Flaca means wife in Spanish though. And neither does Marida. By connotation people know what it means, but as JuanSolo said "Caballa" means mackeral not female horse, even though young kids may get it wrong.

It has nothing to do with regional dialects or language changing. It is just wrong. Sorry that I have to be so fascist in this point!

One of the things that fascinates me about sex is how changing the gender changes the meaning completely. Caballo > Caballa, Pollo > polla and so on.

I am not saying that flaca or marida means wife, it is what I call my wife, no more no less, And I dont feel asthough I need a lesson in basic Spanish and to be told by another Spaniard that when I say it I will be laughed at.

I have used the word quite often on here and in stead of arguing the toss about it, it should be taken for what it is bit of play on words.

I have loads of words that I deliberatly pronounce wrong, ie ORGY GIGILO,
Isay a kilo of PIG, when I know it is pork, I mix and match Spanish and English words, just for a laugh, and whynot?

So untill I am officiayl sentenced to have a sense of humour bypass by the courts, I will carry on with my normal little eccentricities, I like a bit of jokey banter, so now with my "MARIDA and DE RODRIGUEZ " bouncing back to bite me on the a*se, I will go and boil my head.

Sorry JLFS, of course you can call your wife want you want. We also invent words between the two of us, some coming from Spanish and some in English.

I was going against the people on here saying that marida was a proper word in Castellano and they hear it often. I suggest they are mistaken
