Hi,
Well heres the next installment
Yes i did meet up with keri, god knows how we met up i have no idea considering i parked the car about a mile and a half away from where i should have been. But i realised my error and then headed to the correct place and yeah we met up.
Isnt it amazing when ur meeting someone you instantly know its them just by driving past them? I got parked up and we met up.
Basically keris stopping in fuengorola itself, im up the hills about 4 miles so i drove down, meaning no ale for me as driving. But tomorrow night im getting a taxi into fuengorola and the alochol will definately start flying then.
Just wanted to keep my head tonight and get an early night ready for an early start tomorrow. I got called by spmrentals.net and theyve got a couple of studios for me to look at tomorrow so im going to check them out. Keris coming with me too, basically so im not alone an extra rat sniffer as it was.
Keris also been having some bother with his ex, so he had to dive off to an internet cafe to get all that sorted out. He did and i headed back to the hotel.
But he seems a really good guy and im very lucky to have met someone. We both want totally different things out of the costa del sol yet brought together by this forum and we both think on the same lines.
My adventures probably seem rather boring compared his excellent train journey and leaving bags going round in circles on busses hehe.
I think me and him will make a good team. He's artistic im logical. He's confident, im more forward thinking.
Dragging his ass up out of bed tomorrow early as gotta meet this lass from spmrentals.net at 10:30 at the la guardia hotel car park. (think it was called that) its in fuengirola, then we're heading down to look at these apartments.
Also need a spanish sim card!!! So all to be done tomorrow.
Jorneys done tonight, gonna get some sleep and hopefully will have a clear head.
Oh had a bit of a luagh driving back from fuengirola tonight, ended up back ont he coastal motorway heading back towards malaga. Whoops so took a nice scenic route in the dark up the country roads up the hills. They're fantastic roads they are, kinda scarey when not used to driving a left hand drive. But at least the car is an ibiza, very similar to my ibiza i had in the UK. Just very bizzare it being a left hand drive one. I'll get used to it.
More updates as they come.
For now, buenos noches.

Hi all,
Funnily enough when me and my family moved to Mallorca from UK the BBC did do a documentary on us ( and others). It was called "Passport to the Sun" and we featured in it for two years. It was a strange experience with cameras following us for weeks on end and filming everything we did. They were a bit naughty however, editing things to make it look as if things were going wrong for us. Anyway, 8 years later we are getting ready to move back to UK to care for my wifes mother. My two sons are leaving too as they are sick of the expat community and their lack of integration into Mallorquin society. I must say the authorities here make it very hard for you to feel at home here. They are now insisting everyone has to register with the police in Palma, contrary to European law. It seems strange to be retiring and moving BACK to UK other than the other way round. I never missed it before but now I have finished work I find I am bored here. Same old bars, same old British expats same old sunshine every day! Can´t wait to get back to Devon!!

Hi
Your the first person who has said a bad word about Mallorca , as i am going there,, soon as i am sold up here ..
So can you ellaborate more on life there for me ? Maybe theres stuff i should be made aware of ?
I noticed your in Alcudia , whereabouts there are you based as its a area i have shortlisted .. So are you the lakeside or the harbour side ?
Bit puzzled by the same old bit ?
unless they build a new bar every week , they will be the same i assume !
Likewise the British expats unless a lot go back and new ones arrive they will be the same !!
Same sunshine is a phrase i like the sound of
as if that sun went blue in colour it would scare the pants out of me
Devon is lovely part of the country i agree but you have been away 8 years so brace yourself , things not as was here ..
I also think if you dont work being bored is a problem wether it be in Spain , England or Tim Buk To , and something i do worry about , but then i would sooner be bored and be able to sit in the garden and have a outdoor life there , than be stuck indoors in the cold wet English wintertime where its dark at 4pm !! Or have you got a secret Devon winter themepark in mind ?
There is a Mallorca thread going for you reply if you dont mind as this thread is for Keri and Onlineamiga , on there Spanish Job ..so lets keep it clear
sorry keri and onlineamiga ..i did get carried away ..

Just wanted to say well done for getting yourself so "sorted" on your first day here, Andrew
Hope the home hunting goes well tomorrow, and that you and Keri can have a few beers later on.
It's great getting these updates from you both, but don't think it's got to be all exciting or unusual stuff all the time! We just want to know that you're both OK.
Anyway, hope you sleep well.
I'm off to my bed now too!
Nite nite,
Sam x

Keri texted me this morning to say he had got a job interview in Malaga. So im off by myself to have a look at these apartments.
So best wishes to Keri in his job hunt. Its amusing how we're doing things the other way round. He's trying to find a job first, im trying to find a little apartment first hehe.
We did consider looking for a bigger place together, but neither of us know where we're going to end up working. He could end up in Malaga I could end up in Gibraltar.
Really nice to wake up to blue skies, warmth, sun, and lots of birds tweeting.
Kinda didnt know what time it was this morning. Put my laptop forward an hour put my phone forward an hour from british time, then when i connected the two together (phone charges from laptop) the phone decided to go forward yet another hour by itself and as a result my alarm went off at 6am instead of 7am. and of course 6am is kinda like 5am to me still coz only yesterday i was in britain hehehe.

Sorry to eve and armchair detective last night, I managed to get one sentence to Eve before the PC I was on stopped working and by the time I managed to get another PC you were gone
It was very cool meeting Andrew last night, and tonight we are allowed beer so I imagine we will have a story or 9
I will hopefully remember them. Or not, so the case may be.I went to interview today but it smelt of dodginess to me. So still looking!
I did however find a bar that sells a pint (An actual pint, not these dodgy halfs you get) for one euro, so i believe that may be our first port of call, so all is not lost on the journey
Good luck with the apartments andrew my son, dont let them rip you off!
Love to all xxx

You two guys sound busy, not sitting on your backsides like some people do when they come over, and treat it as a holiday. Check out the paper shops etc., Thursday Euro weekly out and Friday the Sur in English (thats the best one) should find lots of jobs and apartments in Sur.
Some of these jobs are dodgy, but a C*¿P telesales job that pays a few euros a week is better than nothing while you look around, there are lots in Fuengirola, I would assume they would do your head in to speak, but again better than nothing.
Keep looking, good luck

Hey you two - you seem to be doing ok! Hope you both find accommodation and work - but have some fun as well! Keep practicing the language and you will fare a lot better. I've just come off the phone to Sonja (my daughter) she turned 30 last Friday and had what she called a 'wicked' time - lasted the whole weekend and she still hasn't got over it
Good way to say goodbye to your twenties eh
She said she wouldn't have had as much fun if she was still in England. She even had a conversation with the taxi driver and her friend who has been in Spain longer than her was amazed at her fluency. She has only been learning Spanish since she went over in January.
