[Tell Big pete not to worry, I am quite safe with the face mask on...hence the Muligatawny...liquids only you see..........]
It's funny, but I was going to make a light hearted joke about a face mask in my earlier post; but I'd thought I'd better not as we don't know each other all that well.......................yet!
However, now we're amigos, I might just be a bit more cheeky on the odd occasion
Buen viaje
It would be great to hear from you while you're away if you can manage it.
Please try not to match Keri and Andrew's activities though...........I don't think Eve and I will be able to stand the tension!
Besides which, I'm sure Nursey will have you tucked up nicely in your straw by 10pm every night
Can't wait to see your photos - that would be great.
All the very best to you,
Sam.

Hi all,
Funnily enough when me and my family moved to Mallorca from UK the BBC did do a documentary on us ( and others). It was called "Passport to the Sun" and we featured in it for two years. It was a strange experience with cameras following us for weeks on end and filming everything we did. They were a bit naughty however, editing things to make it look as if things were going wrong for us. Anyway, 8 years later we are getting ready to move back to UK to care for my wifes mother. My two sons are leaving too as they are sick of the expat community and their lack of integration into Mallorquin society. I must say the authorities here make it very hard for you to feel at home here. They are now insisting everyone has to register with the police in Palma, contrary to European law. It seems strange to be retiring and moving BACK to UK other than the other way round. I never missed it before but now I have finished work I find I am bored here. Same old bars, same old British expats same old sunshine every day! Can´t wait to get back to Devon!!

Hi
My wife is from Exeter although I am Scottish. We are moving back to live in Exeter for the forseeable future but don´t rule out coming back to Mallorca some day.

Hello!
For a moment there, I thought you might be Leapy Lee!
We used to watch Passport to the Sun religiously, so we've probably seen you!
There was another thread on here a little while ago, called "Anyone ever featured on one of those Place in the Sun type programmes" (or something like that
)I've done a search for the thread, but I can't find it now
I thought maybe you might like to have a read through the posts on there?
Perhaps someone else will be able to direct you there? (jdr, please can you help?)
Anyway, welcome to the forum
Sorry to hear that you haven't been enjoying life on Mallorca lately, and sorry also to hear that your mother-in-law needs some extra help.
No doubt your wife will feel better being back in Devon and close to her Mum, so perhaps this has all happened for a reason??
If you haven't ruled out returning to Mallorca at some point, and presumably your Spanish is pretty good after being here for 8 years, have you considered moving elsewhere in Spain in the future?
I wish you and your family well, whatever you decide.
I lived in Torbay for most of my childhood and into my early twenties.
There are quite a few of us on this forum with links to Devon!
All the very best with your return.

´Well I can´t really say it didn´t work out for us. We had a good business here for 8 years and have many friends of all nationalities. We are moving because of my wifes mothers ill health and will miss the place. I would say that here in Alcudia we see lots of people who sell up and move over here either to retire or buy a bar etc. Over the years we have seen them come and go, usually going and losing everything in the process. We were lucky, worked hard and eventually have sold he business for enough to allow us to retire very comfortably. My advice to anyone moving out here is, don´t burn your bridges, you may be back sooner than you think!!

Hi Brisca,
No I´m not Leapy but I have met him. We were actually on the show before him ( we were the first people on the first episode ) and were featured for two years with Lisa Tarbuck and Nadia Sawhala. If you watched it you would have seen us in our Bar, The Highlander, in Alcudia. I must say I am glad to be out of the business as it was getting harder every year and now intend to enjoy my retirement flitting back and forth on Flybe!!

Do a search, it starts with, "anyone from this forum........"
I used to go to Palma lots and have posted quite a bit on there, and some people on here are heading that way so would appreciate some advice.
