Nothing ever is. What's your point? That a repossesion is worse in Spain than in England or Scotland? You may well be right (currently) as housing benefit will pay the rent in the UK, but it looks like that is going to be eroded over time. Forking out a billion pounds on housing benefit every fortnight (well 16 days) is unsustainable in the long run, especially as the North Sea oil runs out..
As it happens, one of the results of this quantitative easing (and propping up the banks - £45 billion to RBS alone  ) has been the fall in the value of the pound. Every man and woman with pound sterling has seen the value of their currency fall - as many on this forum who spend in Euros will be aware. Perhaps it's been a price worth paying? But the victims include Brits losing their properties in Spain. Plus of course spending cuts hitting health and teaching. Can't say I'm impressed. There are cases cited saying that a man borrowed 340k or there abouts, he has defaulted on the mortgage after paying for a number of years, the bank now wnat him to pay sround 600k because they want all the interest that he would have paid if he had carried paying the mortgage till the full term. I am not saying that a repossession is worse in Spain than England or Scotland,, somone loses their home either way The difference is that the banks in the UK may want a pound of flesh, but in Spain some want a ton. Iam sure that you will correct me if I am wrong, if you default on a UKmortgage for 300k, the will come after you for the outstanding balance, not the future interest payments for the remaining years. That is the point I was making, I was not talking about housing benifit, just about the banks and their practices. So I hope that clears it up for you? |

And try to avoid borrowing money from them - easier said than done though, in these days of high house prices and irregular work. Not something I claim to have been successful in doing. |

And I replied by stating the UK banks get easier pickings by taking money from the govt (well us, the taxpayer). But you seemed to take exception to that, and from this post, still do. If you really dislike me that much put me on ignore. Believe me , your health (and everyone's health) is worth far more than getting upset over someone typing in opinions on a talkboard.

So. Integration to some folk means feeling comfortable beating each other up verbally on a forum which they swear means nothing to them.
Immigration means butting in and saying callate, off topic:rolleyes: |

Again (like last week) you're going way over the top. And projecting. Believe me I have far more important things going on right now than to dignify your dribblings with a long reply.

Re: Define Integration. As distinct from immigration!
I hope this is not off topic. I belonged to a local forum some years ago that had quite a few Spanish members, well integrated with the rest of us. A forum meeting was arranged locally and was well attended by some 100 members.
We all wore badges with our cyber names and some interesting discussions followed over wine and tapas. One Spanish member had recently asked for business partners to join him in an estate agency venture and I didn't think he would be at the meeting. To my surprise, he was, proudly sporting his cyber badge. I knew there had been some heated exchanges in cyber space concerning the business venture, and it wasn't long before there were face to face discussions in the rather posh restaurant were the meeting was held. I propelled my wife towards the exit when the fight started. I counted four Guardia Civil cars in the car park before we managed to drive away to safety. The forum was a lot quieter after that day. |
