Morning all,

things seem to have gone all pear shaped on the Esuri thread recently, and I'm sorry that Sam felt the need to depart. She's been so helpful to so many of us, and it's a shame she has left feeling so low about developments on here.

It's been so long since I posted. Those who have been reading for a while will know that I was quite vocal about some major problems at Marina Esuri (Andalucian Village), but this forum was a fantastic way to air the issue, give appropriate information, and galvanise those affected to lobby Fadesa to make changes, which they did eventually, (and at great cost to them, to be fair). Maybe some negative comments were made at the time by the many who were affected, but the information posted here helped to bring about positive change, so how can that be a bad thing.

Information gives us all power, and I hope that those on Rago 1 who have issues with Fadesa can, like us duplex owners, achieve a result and get Fadesa to spend some money and rectify the problems. Maybe though, you could do what I did and open a separate thread for Rago 1 issues so that all the up to date information is sat in one place and any new developments can be posted to help all affected.

My wise mum said to me - Karen, if you have nothing good to say, then don't say anything at all, and for that reason I have not posted for some time. I was, for a while, on a bit of a downer about my purchase, but not for the world, would I have ever posted, just for the sake of it, any negative thoughts of mine when new buyers, prospective buyers and owners are reading, and are thoroughly excited about the development and the area. That's just not fair. For all us in it for the long haul, we will have our peaks and troughs, but unless you have something constructive to say, then why say it!

Let me clarify my thoughts on CE; whilst I still have reason to be unhappy about the agent who sold my apartment to me, I still love Ayamonte, and still believe that, in the long term CE has every chance of becoming a truly wonderful place to be. In the short term, we should all have been aware that progress towards this, would be slow and sometimes painful, this is Spain after all.

There is no doubt that flippers and those who expected a rental income to cover a large part of their mortgage costs will be hard hit in the short to medium term - the credit crunch and UK housing downturn certainly isn't helping. There was some wild speculation going on, on the back of some very dodgy selling by unscrupulous agents, but that has happened all over Spain, and the Costa Blanca and Del Sol are certainly affected in a far more serious way than we are. I am sorry for those who need to sell right now. Property buying and selling is a risky business, and shame on those who encouraged some to over commit themselves on the back of a promise of constant property price rises that could never ever be fulfilled, especially in an area where so much building is going on. Basic rules of supply and demand tell us that flipping on CE would not be possible.

All in all, and everything considered, I remain happy. The area is glorious, I can breakfast in Spain, and lunch in Portugal, I see progress each time I visit, and have met some lovely people via this forum. Long may it continue, with positive comments and also negative, with no censorship please - JDR should not become British Expats very own Chairman Mao!

I want to read the views of everyone associated with CE, but let's keep things constructive, and let's think about what we say before we say it. I certainly might think that some people live in dumps but I was too well brought up to tell them!

Regards to all my friends on here, and hello to all my future friends - no doubt we will all meet up for drinks during future months/years at CE.

Karen

How about street lights that are there but not on or as at CE Street lights that are on but no houses!

Costa Esuri in 5 years will be awesome. I remember what La Manga was like at this stage and we're light years ahead.

I'm there from 25th Feb - 9th March. Anyone up for a meet?
Funny you should mention that. 4 years ago when I said that my hope was that it would rival La Manga or Vilamoura when all the pieces were in place it was laughed out.

I was surprised to see the other forum had been cancelled. I think all the developments have a negative and a positive part, above all because what it's good for one person may not be good for another one, so, there will always be some aspects that can be positive and negative depending on the person that analyse them. For instance, there is in Madrid a very good housing development called "La Moraleja". Is one of the most expensive and beautiful place in Madrid and, in spite of that, you can find negative aspects and positive ones at the same time depending on what you like.
If you ask my opinion, i can say as i said many times, i like CE very much, as Mel said, there are two countries separate just for a bridge, the weather is fantastic and people that i have already met there are really good, what else do you need? For me that is enough.
Regards
marisol

I play a lot of tennis so been to La Manga a lot. It was on it's knees a few years ago.

Then suddenly it took off. One guy from Essex (can't remember his name) started focusing on the tennis and it really took off. The Hyatt opening there and the football pitches helped also.

It has exactly the same feel as Costa Esuri will have. Or does to me.

And who cares? The location of Esuri is much nicer.

Marisol, there's a bit of a difference between La Moraleja and CE. Now if you'd said Parla, Fuenlabrada, Vallecas or Mostoles, that would have been a more appropriate comparison, ¿o no?

Thats why I posted the other day about the need over time to get all the facilities completed such as football pitches, tennis courts and the hotels (though it looks as though the 5* has gone for good) and finally if the environmentalists will allow and it can be funded the marina.

My brother has a house in la Manga, just in front of the beach and he likes more CE. At the beginning La Manga was great, not much people, not much cars and peace. Now it turned into the opposite, there are too much people, too much cars and too much noise. As i said in my previous post, there must be people that like La Manga more as it is in this moment but i liked much more before, when you could take a walk wherever you wanted. The progress implies inevitably an increase in the lack of safety besides the other negative aspects, so it depends on what you are looking for.
I hope CE never looks like La Manga

And, even though i had a house in La Moraleja i would prefer living in CE, there we have a very beautiful beach just 7 km. away

Hello Karen,
Nice to hear from you once again on the forum. You are correct indeed in saying that information is power, and the trick is to use it wisely.
I am guilty for posting about my "boiler woes", however, my experience,
I feel, has been of some use to others (especially the technical phrases).
Yes, separate threads with varying topics may be helpful, but it is so easy to search with keywords on this single thread.
Regards,
Carol
