Good post, Fortaleza. Thanks.
We are coming out on Sunday by Easy-jet from Luton. Am i missing something? What is this one-bag policy all about, and why the concerns about cameras as hand luggage???????

I usually wear a coat with big pockets, and fill them with heavy stuff, camera round the neck or on the hip, anything to maximise what I can get out there!

Last we came through Thomsonfly at Christmas I noticed most people had hand luggage bigger than the allowed size. Most also had plastic bags and / or handbags, and some had cameras. There were no problems at all.

Mind you, special restrictions may apply to Costa Esuri as it is a separate country

It is all explained on the Easyjet website. I bag easyjet size plus clear re-sealable toiletries bag. You must be able to lift the bag into the overhead locker yourself.

All other bags must be checked and paid for!

Ryan is pretty strict. They often weigh the hand luggage, and I have seen people turned back with oversized lugage.

Before the liquid ban we used to take about six or 8 ltrs of shorts in hand luggage, now its just two or three in the hold case.

I reckon that's one restriction that will never be lifted. It doesn't do the Exchequer's coffers any good if we buy loads of cheap booze abroad.

Just to re-confirm. The BAA/Home Office policy changes which permit more than 1 bag through security do NOT apply at Luton - and even if they did Easyjet (with an eye to its revenue stream) has its own 1 bag policy. Even a lady's handbag is counted as a bag in its own right. The handbag and a camera and anything else has to go in your single piece of hand luggage or be checked in. The benefit of Easyjet is that they do not have a weight restriction on hand luggage except you must be able to lift it - ie you can't stuff it under a seat.

We are sorry that Sam decided to shut down the previous thread, but we should all remember just how helpful and informative her postings were, and respect her decision.

That said, we are delighted that this replacement has been started so soon, and we hope it will continue to provide a intersesting, informative and even entertaining forum for an exchange of views.

Best wishes to all Escurians.
