They don't speak any English and their neighbours didn't speak Spanish.
There are other similar stories of Spaniards pulling out as they never realised the extent of the English colony they had bought into. |

I still have to question your logic.
You are not suggesting that when Esuri was initially marketed the Brits had first stab at purchasing there. If the Spanish had purchased large amounts of property on Esuri in the beginning ,as they had the opportunity to do,then logically there would have been more Spanish. How did the Companies who promoted Esuri know it was going to be "plagued with Brits". Another Brit based - but now defunct - big property agents used their marketing might by selling CE (non Fadesa) through its big TV campaign. Both these also specialised in the 'free holiday' type deals to bring over punters. Then cropped up in Ayamonte loads of little 'Estate Agents' (ahem) who specialised in searching for overseas clients (mainly Brits) At that time the campaign wasn't so big in Spain, and the subsequent massive campaign in Madrid I mentioned earlier was done directly through Fadesa. Fadesa openly admitted it was aiming for the international market with Esuri. Golf, housing and hotels - all appeal to the North European market. Their marketing was based around this too. My friends also knew this too, but they were led to believe by the sales team that there would also be a strong Spanish community too.

Maybe ,if you were in the know,as you would have us all believe, you should have advised them better and they could have bought a house near you .
BTW - they do have a property near me now, and are very happy when they come down. They were here for Carnaval and are back again for the Puente and for Semana Santa. Everything they want is here - a bustling town, a beautiful long stretching beach, bars, restaurants, marina, fishing port, shops, decent supermarkets (with five chains to choose from). So, I suppose (although I doubt they'd see it this way as they are quite bitter about the experience!!!) the Fadesa sales staff probably did them a favour in the end!!!! |

Have you offered them offered them 50k for it ?
They sold ages ago, long before Fadesa went tits up. They say they took a loss on it, but I think they mean when they count up the whole cost ie the trips down here, the delays, legal etc...... I say this because at the time they sold, they should have been able to at least sell it for what they paid for. It's no joke about the 50k mind you (although I suspect it is more!!!). Not my cash but there are investors prowling to take properties at the stage before the banks come in to repossess. You end up taking a massive loss, but you satisfy the banks and keep your credit rating clean. Not a pleasant way to make a living, but lucrative I'm told |

I did not meet them until after they had bought but before moving in (as it wasn't complete). We did at the time tell them that it was going to be Little Britain, to which they were fairly open-minded about, assuming that although there would be foreigners there would be loads of Spanish too. What they did not expect was the outcome - remember that of the 2150-odd Fadesa built units, only around 1250 are sold, and a number far, far less than that are occupied. As for the rest of the site by other developers, I don't know the numbers there, but I'm led to believe that of the ones that have even bothered to continue to build, and the ones who haven't gone bust, the numbers are low too. Most of the permanently occupied units I beleive to be foreign (mainly Brit) owned. It was therefore very easy for them to feel outnumbered and unwelcome. Sounds like Ayamonte,5 mins from Costa Esuri you know !!
Could be Isla Cristina next door, but then if you are from a scruffy little town like Isla Cristina you wouldn't really be in a position to be condescending about Costa Esuri. Or there is El Rompido which is quite twee....but you would hardly call that bustling and the beach is pretty crappy. |

Surely they are both as bad as each other in differing ways? |

I live in Madrid, im Spaniard and i am delighted with our house. the most important for me is to know good people, i dont mind where they are from. I have shared very good moments with people who live there, people who are from Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, Portugal, Belgium.... and i wouldnt be better if i had been with Spanish people. All those people want to integrate in Spain (if not, they wouldnt have met me) they all are trying to learn Spanish, they all try the spanish food and when we have gone out for lunch, for instance, they asked me to go to a really Spanish restaurant. I dont either like people who think they are better than everyone else just because they are from another Country and belive me, there are a lot of people like this, but this kind of people can be from anywhere. You cant imagine how many people from Spain there are that feel as if the world revolves around them. When i am in CE i feel i am in Spain, of course, i'm in Spain. In short, im very happy with the house and the neighbors i have. marisol :) |

But what I want to know is why you think "shabby" beats "false cosmetics". Surely they are both as bad as each other in differing ways? So this remodelling you speak of? Examples? And as for 'shabby' you may be right, you may be wrong - but given that property prices are, and have consistently been among the highest in the province (behind El Rompido and on a par with Matalascañas & San Juan at the last point of looking) at around €2600 per square metre, maybe 'shabby' as you call it is what people around here are after, and they leave the plastic for the undiscerning |

Hey, Marisol - I don't say I agree with them. I merely report an acount of a bad experience held by some ex-Esuri owners - and this is something I've heard of from several Spanish owners there. Yours is the only good account I know of from a Spanish buyer, soemthing I think we've mentioned before?????? Maybe my memory is playing tricks.
Having lived in both Madrid and Seville, yes I can quite vividly imagine!!!!!!!!!!:lol: Ps Don't forget to call in over Semana Santa When i said "you cant imagine..." is a way of talk, i would have said that even if you had been from Spain. I know you know a lot of the way of living in Spain that is one of the things i like you. Im sure your are completely integrated among people from Ayamonte, and because of that, you must know that almost all Spanish people are very open and they welcome everybody from everywhere who try to integrate, welcome people who act with humbly. I will call you, can be sure :) marisol |
