Re: COSTA ESURI - AYAMONTE
I think the point has been a little missed here of my original post.
Firstly, this might be the most visited thread, but it is ONE thread against the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of threads in the Spanish section which each in turn have many many posts. They are separate threads on separate subjects and therefore can be accessed easily. The problem with this monster is that finding specific help for a newbie would be, to say the least, diffifcult. There was no intention to decry the thread (sorry for delay, been away)... I do take exception to the poster that said the threads in the Spanish section are full of chat so they dont go there . I think you should read back through this thread! :) The Spanish section is kept generally on topic now, whereas the siesta time is the chat area. My original point was to warn you that at some time we will need to close it and start again ...... just for the dial up members who will find it increasingly difficult to access. Now lets leave it at that and you can get back to chatting about CE to your hearts content :D |

Well said Mitz!! I always thought it was so generous of the site owners to graciously pay for, host and run a Costa Esuri FORUM within within its worldwide forum website. Maybe every housing estate in Spain can be given their own Forum within the forum too. |

Re: COSTA ESURI - AYAMONTE
I began looking at this thread for information for my Aunt who does not use the internet. I soon noticed that any serious discussion about ESURI(negative that is!) was stifled by a couple of quick posts re. Jags, the Club house etc. Now I am fascinated by the thread:rofl:
Aperfect example of how I would hate to live in an almost totally ex-pat community. |

After they took possession of the house a couple of years back they intended to spend the summer there settling in. By about mid-summer, they put the property on the market and went back to Madrid. Reason - they were astonished that all their neighbours were Brits, and they were annoyed that they felt like foriegners in their own country. They don't speak any English and their neighbours didn't speak Spanish.
There are other similar stories of Spaniards pulling out as they never realised the extent of the English colony they had bought into. Perhaps they should have bought on The Costa Del Sol or The Costa Brava,or Costa Blanca or ...............the list is endless. Maybe they should have researched more thoroughly before buying. |

Perhaps they should have bought on The Costa Del Sol or The Costa Brava,or Costa Blanca or ...............the list is endless. Maybe they should have researched more thoroughly before buying. They've been visiting the area every year for long before Brit invasion. They knew the area. They knew about Esuri from the outset and bought off plan on one of the first phases. It was massively promoted in Madrid, with TV ads and a high profile campaign on Madrid's metro system. They were told by the sales people that it would be an interantional community as it was attracting many foriegn enquiries, but it would or course attract many Spaniards, given the marketing campaign they had done in Madrid and other big cities. So it's fair to say they knew what they doing. What they got though was something very different to what they had been sold, given that they were massively outnumbered - and made to feel so too. It is not unreasonable for Spanish people buying on a supposedly luxury housing estate in Spain, from a Spanish agent, to expect that they would not be made to feel like outsiders in their own country. I can imagine some Brits would have something to say if having bought in good faith on a luxury estate in, say, Plymouth only to find when they get there it is full of Eastern Europeans/Asians/Africans [select your immigrant of choice] |

Presumably the Spanish had as good an opportunity to buy on Esuri as did the British. |

I'm sure there are a lot of nice properties at excellent prices in Beirut, but knowing in advance that it is a volatile area, I would steer clear, no matter how good the deal was. What they objected to was that it was not made clear at the start that Esuri would be plagued with Brits, and moreover they were lead to believe that there would be a balanced cross-section of communities represented there. So if there is any blame from them, it would be directed at the sales staff, not the Brits |

If you're talking about bricks and mortar, yes it was a level playing field. However what they had not been informed of was that they would be moving into a Brit expat enclave. Had they been told that at the beginning they would not have bought there and left it for you lot. Maybe ,if you were in the know,as you would have us all believe, you should have advised them better and they could have bought a house near you . |
