Once we leave the airport on the dual carridgeway road past the car hire places, we just keep going. We then end up round and underneath the road which then takes us on an old road for a few kilometres where you end up turning right to get to the motoway.

Sorry for the delay in replying to your post. If this is in connection to the karma question ("Where can you find a (smaller) copy of "La pesca del atun" in Ayamonte?") then I am afraid that is not the answer I was looking for. (It is a trick question; "smaller" is the first clue.)
What were your impressions of the Sorolla exhibition in Valencia?

Did not realise that this was a quiz of any sort, spotted the question and responded.

I was really impressed with the Sorolla exhibition in Valencia it was held at the cultural building of our bank and was free. As I said there was a wonderful shop with loads of lovely things to buy. When we visited our bank in the New Year I spotted the fact that they had a Sorolla calendar so asked where I could get one and the Bank Manager immediately fetched me one.

That's the quickest way. You're doing the San Bras route. The other (longer but more dual carriageway route) means turning off the dual carriageway from the airport where you can turn 1st right into right hand southbound lane to go to Faro or 2nd right joining the same road but going northbound signposted (I think) to Portimao, Loule and Lisboa. This road takes you straight to the motorway but one junction further down. You travel approx 6/7 km before you pass the San Bras exit where you're joining the motorway now. The way you do it now is quicker even though you can't get up any sort of speed on the old road (so it seems longer), but you're not on it long anyway

Thanks for that. I think the direct route I was on about was taking the exit to Portimao, Loule and Lisboa (Blue Sign A22) that you mention, but didn't realise it was longer this way. Maybe we'll stick to what we know...

Well we've finally managed it! Arrived (permanently) in CE last Tuesday and so far have been busy sorting out our empadronamiento (they were very helpful at the Ayuntamiento), TV, Broadband, etc. I have to say that the weather has not been fantastic but we don't care. It has taken us four years in all but we are now permanent residents and very glad to be here. Anyone looking for a game of golf or just a drink and conversation please get in touch.

I drove this route once myself (unknowingly!) It did seem far faster than the other route mentioned. (Do not to turn off towards the estadio algarve - it's the one that looks like the sails of a ship.)

I would presume that the Sorolla picture in ceramics is a tiled picture in a fish market or fish shop.

Call me thico if you want.but I wouldnt even know what a sorolla exibition is.And I definatly would be driving around in circles trying to find IKEA.

It may have worked out better for you being a bit milder weather wise.at least you can get every thing done eazyer while its a bit cooler.you may have a couple of hickups but there are maney brits about to give you some advise and we have all been through the mill.So good luck and may you have maney good BBQ,s

Hi All,

I am sitting in the square in V R St O writing to you on the free Wi Fi toconnection. The trip down was fantastic everything went really well evan the gods were kind and the bay of Biscay was like a mill pond for 48 hrs. There were whales and dolphins to be seen.

From Bilbao to Brozas took exactly the 6.5 hrs predicted by Via Michelin and the converted convent we stayed in overnight was fantastic and the food was really top quality.

The real reason for driving on this trip was to bring down the oak flooring for the lounge in the villa all 40 sq m. This was about 1 cu m of wood and felt like it weighed a tonne. So road surface quality was very important and it was brilliant for 98% of the journey. We did not try the back roads from Brozas to Ayamonte as first planned to stay on the motorway all the way via Sevilla and that took 3.5 hrs driving.

The weather is very mixed at the moment but warm enough for shorts and a tee shirt if you have just come from UK but the natives are still in winter woolies. I will test out the clubhouse wi fi as well and update you on the progress on CE but so far everything looks really good.
