Those that do are not being honest with themselves or others.

And there is no place for such discrimination of women in the UK.

Women priests are forbidden in Orthodox Christianity.... I expect that's fine though because it's Christian not Muslim.....

Trust you to come up with a post about banning women priests, when discussing womens rights.

To compare the terrible way women are treated under islam with that is just pathetic, and you know if.

I am talking about the things that are really important to most women, ie the welfare of their children.

To compare the prospect of losing custody of their children is a more pressing worry for women under sharia law, than not being allowed to be a priest is for non muslim women.

What´s with you that makes you come out with totally stupid reasoning whenever something negative is said about islam.

Are you muslim? I am wondering because you seem defend the religion at every turn, an throw in ludicrous comments, but don´t seem to care about the rights of women in your own country the UK.

I can´t think of any other reason why someone would defend the abuse of womens rights, unless islam is very important to them.

And while I don´t have strong feelings either way about women priesta, I still feel that islamic sharia law has no place in the UK.

The custody laws, inheritance laws are unfair to women, and against uk law.

Women are coersed into going to sharia courts, a lot of them don´t know their rights under UK law and are often intimidated by male relatives into seeking a judgment.

Isn't it better to discuss a topic than to try and twist someone elses viewpoint and comments like some sort of rubbish internet troll? At no point have I "stood up for" an abuse of womens rights or condoned anything of the sort but you keep trying to twist my words that way... it's offensive and the work of a troll. Grow up or **** off.

I am talking about womens rights, British women who happen to be muslim, but who are not treated in the same way as non muslims as regards their rights under UK law.

What has that got to do with bombing?

I won´t hold my breath for an answer, I know you will run true to form, and create another smoke screen before calling for backup.

Maybe you can give me examples where women don´t come off worse under islam.

The thread is about a Free School that has over stepped the remit it was given and is being dealt with.... if you want to start a thread about how women are being downtrodden then start one....

No thanks. I might get in trouble for 'being muslim'.

Right on cue? The thread has been dormant for days, how is it "right on cue"?

The tread is about British standards, and in Britian women have equality under UK law.

However there is a group of women who don´t have equality. those that are under islamic law.

So I think that my points are perfectly valid, as I am not discussing how muslim women are treated in Iran only in the UK.

Try to look beyond Islam, see the bigger picture. "They, not necessarily Islam" appear to be out to get you and your kind!
Then again it is all about interpretation and how people choose to interpret what is before them.

ISTR that Jesus said "let ye who is without fault cast the first stone" (IIRC)
that is in the New Testament of the Bible, some 800 years before Mohammed and the start of the Muslim religion - which recognises Jesus as a Prophet.

The New Testament also shows in the Acts of the Apostles that women play a key part in religion and what happened in a few short years.

I really think it is.

When I raised that point before, people were saying they'd never even met a muslim, yet clearly they lie awake fretting about them.

If I believed anyone on this thread was actually an activist for women's rights, I might be prepared to listen.
