I'm not saying he didn't live here, but he was born in SA, I was born in Iran, thus I don't see myself as British, ask almost anyone born overseas and they feel the same way.

And in Christopher's writings he mentions JJR's feelings about being SA born.

Thats all I am saying, I am being pedantic, doing a "Keith".

Out of interest, what nationality passport do you hold?

Just thinking if it is British you will have a smoother ride when you move out here.

since it is illegal for me to hold an Iranian passport I hold a Brit one, but I am not a British citizen on it, and any children I have out of the UK are not entitled to a British passport.

You forget I lived in Spain for many years already Keith, so I'm sure I will be OK.

How long were you in Iran for, not that it makes any difference to nationality, just interested.

We moved to the U.A.E when I was about 5, dad worked for the Shah so we had to get out before the shit hit the fan.

Then I eventually came back to the UK when I was about 12/13 for good.

I have a registration number still and should have really entered national service by now!

I hold a British passport but where it states your status it is blank on mine, on yours it will state British Citizen.

And heaven knows why my children wont be considered British but they wont, only if they are born in the UK.

That clear it up or are there still flashy bits Mr Walters?

I would of thought you are a British citizen by descent, so it should be on your PP ?
But then like you say your children will only follow to British Citizen if born it the UK, unless your partner is a British citizen and the child is born abroad, then they will be British by descent from her, I think.

I always thought the same, but my problem is that there is no record, simply because the records from Iran were all destroyed, of me being born at all.

I have a kind of weird Birth certificate made when I was about 12 so that I could get back into the UK for hospital.

That was lost when I went to OZ many moons ago and when I tried to get a new one a few years back I couldn't get one issued, so my new passport has nothing in the status bit.
