Please be aware that SOME of these sites contain malware etc.

I am contracted to 10m with movistar
Speednet test says 8.5m
But download a large file from p2p or rapidshare, and i max out at 10m for the 1min of downloading the the file...

So how reliable a test is speedtest.net when I get better speed results not using it but downloading a file directly.

Also, people are using differnet servers for thei test. so no an accurate test either.

We have been told we are lucky to get anything (ADSL or telephone) as we are so far from the exchange

From previous threads on this subject, and this one so far agrees, most people in Spain get about 70 - 80% of the contracted line speed. It is impossible to get 100% for various technical reasons.

This is a far better result that you would get in the UK. They advertise higher speeds but various surveys have proved that you are lucky to get 20% of the rated speed.

ADSL is expensive in Spain but at least you get "what it says on the tin"

If you are not achieving 70 - 80 % of your contracted speed then it is probable (based on these tests) that you have a problem which needs to be taken up with your supplier.

If you don't quote the speed that you are contracted for your results are absolutely pointless.
